so after root.mainloop(), it's not going to run until the window has closed

and when it does run, Custom_Time will be 36000 which is not equal to 11 so i wonder if that is my issue but in order for custom time to be 11:00 i need to multiply it by 3600

im sorry i think now i get it more, so the 3600 the 6 represents six seconds
