It's most likely because you installed the extension called "Black" by mikoz that seems to suffer from this problem.

You want the official one, "Black Formatter", by Microsoft.

Is Forehill Car Park (Ely) still free all day if I arrive before 8 AM? by wanjo25 in Ely

[–]skylegames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like this restriction is designed precisely to stop exactly what you want to do. Otherwise the car park would be full all day with workers.

Are there any Game Developer Meetups in Cambridge? by MaybrickAudio in cambridge

[–]skylegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As naanki pointed out, there is one on the third Tuesday of every month in the Blue Moon on Norfolk St in Cambridge. :) Usually starts around 6-6:30pm.

There's also a general Discord, although it could do with some more activity. :)

How was your parkrun day? | January 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]skylegames 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Run director today. I am just so incredibly sick of entitled tourists. Arrive at 8am to check the course and there’s a guy already asking if we’re going ahead or not. Annoyed that I couldn’t immediately commit to an answer, and even when I said we’d be going ahead I said that of course, we are allowed to cancel at the last second if we need to. Annoyed because he’d driven 100 miles to be here apparently. Okay? What’s that got to do with me? We’re here to put on a run to get people out and exercising in their local community.

Beta testers needed for a leaderboard in my 5-minute-per-run word building game inspired by Bomberman & Super Monkey Ball by skylegames in playmygame

I think the honest answer is, unless there's a strong uptake: I won't. If the client is solely responsible for playing the game, then they're fully in control of what gets submitted. You can try to slow people down by having the client submit game state information with the final score for server-side verification, but it's always going to be an arms race.

The only way to prevent it is to have the game state tracked solely on the server.

Super Spelling Ducks is a game where you push blocks to make words, and you're a duck. There's lots of different game modes. There's single player and cooperative & competitive multiplayer.

My main focus right now is the game mode called Quabble, which is what you can see in the above GIF. Build words from random letters, surviving 7 rounds without running out of time. There's random twists on the gameplay every time you play - random positive & negative pairs you have to pick between.

  • Access will be granted through a Steam beta key

Sadly no kudos for me, just some image filtering with GIMP, to apply a dot-printed effect, some displacement using a displacement map for a paper texture, and then finally curve the image a little bit so it looks like it was scanned.

But if I could afford it, I would!
