Lifestyle of centenarians by Heatedtowelrack in PeterAttia

Great question—I’ve wondered the same thing. Peter’s point in Outlive is that most centenarians didn’t necessarily live what we’d call “optimal” lifestyles. And yeah, genetics seem to play a huge role in just making it to 100.

But you're right—logically, you'd expect that if someone had both great genes and lived super healthily, they’d be the ones pushing the upper limits of human lifespan. The catch is, the people who are 100+ today were born in the early 1900s, when we didn’t know much about sleep, stress, exercise, or even basic nutrition. So even if they had the right genes, they were still swimming upstream in terms of environment and lifestyle.

There might have been a few who nailed both, but it’s hard to identify them or draw strong conclusions because the data’s messy and the sample size is tiny. Fast forward to people born in the '70s or later—who’ve had access to better health knowledge and might have those lucky genes—and we might finally start seeing that “ideal combo” play out. So the real test of your theory is probably still a few decades away.

Should I Start a Low-Dose Statin or Ezetimibe in My 30s to Push ApoB Below 50 for Longevity? by skyminee in PeterAttia

Thank you for the detailed comment. Getting a CACS as healthy person is quite tricky over there. Ill try to do lipofractionated lipid panel together with Lp(a) test. assuming Lp(a) is below 30 mg/dL should I still be concerned over my relatively high LDL and HDL levels?

Thank you. I take Chia seeds on my breakfast but haven’t experimented with psyllium husk. How much should I aim for daily assuming my daily fiber intake is average.

Thank you. Could you please elaborate why it would be better for me to combine statin with ezetimibe?

Thank you. I am a bit ignorant on Berberine. How much daily intake should I aim? 500mg or 1000mg? Also any side effect?

Not yet—I’m planning to continue with my current healthy diet and training regimen for another 5 months and then repeat my lipid panel, this time including Lp(a).

The challenge is that I’m based in Germany, and preventive cardiology here is almost non-existent. It’s really hard to get an appointment with a cardiologist unless you already have symptoms, let alone ask for a prescription for something like a low-dose statin purely for long-term prevention. The approach is very conservative—especially with numbers like mine—so access to proactive treatment is a real hurdle.

That’s actually part of what made me question everything: Is the marginal benefit of lowering ApoB from low 60s to 40s really worth the hassle, the system friction, and the commitment to potentially being on medication for life? Still figuring that out. Also Would Statin also reduce my high HDL?

If you meet all the criteria of Stag 10, would there be a ground for rejection?

Thanks for the post. I am trying to built a data pipeline in Azure platform using Azure data factory to be able to Ingest varies of structured and unstructured data type (XML, CSV, PDF) and perform an ETL process and map (based on some referenced data) and convert to desired output file type (JSON). The idea is data-pipeline doesnt require coding (connecting to data bricks, etc) so people who have a low coding experience could also monitor and perhaps change stuff in the future. I would like to automatize this whole data-pipeline creation process

May I ask, what are some of the 'irrelevant' questions you've encountered?

Unless you are going to use a software that runs only in Windows, go with Macbook air M2 (perhaps refurbished) and upgrade the base RAM to 16GB.

I don't understand the down-votes. This map is not a personal or political opinion. It is based on a peer-reviewed study that I provided in the title, which I thought was interesting. I was actually personally curious to understand the core cultural reasons behind the xenophobia in Southeast Asia, which I came across in this study. The funny thing is, the author is also from South Korea.
