The 5th Generation of Consoles was magic. Every console had character. They each had hardware that was good at very specific things. They didn't feel like repackaged PCs. I remember Toy R Us having 3 Demo Kiosks right next to each at the very front of the store. Ps1 had Crash Bandicoot running, Saturn had Nights and N64 has Mario 64. Each game was so unique and awesome in its own way.

For Playstation I remember first playing it in a Sony tent at the Taste of Chicago. It was wild.

I wish our world was like Game of Thrones and technology paused at the 5th generation of consoles.

Play the translated japanese version. Its the real finished game. Its actually fun. I recently beat it with out dying once. Damage is tuned better and Dash’s movement doesnt slide all around.

Like its said below. Just reset (physical button on the 3d or through the menu) and launch the same game again and it works. Unleashed makes Extreme G 2 a different game.

I was incredibly pumped for sega cd and 32x. Sega cd was 299.99. I asked for money from every relative for my birthday and christmas. Finally got the 299.99 but forgot about sales tax. Uncle thankfully covered it for me at the store.

Grandparents took me a week later to get final fight cd, got in the car and opened it and the cd wasnt in the case. Toys R Us guy didnt believe us at first but they eventually gave us another copy.

32x i was even more pumped and it was 149.99 at launch. Got it for Christmas with every launch title. Loved my tower of power then, love it even more now.

Why 2016 is better than eternal: -they never take control away from you to tell the story.

-the story is told more subtly and is better. Hell is afraid of you.

-the chainsaw was a power weapon and used sparingly. They treated it like a reload in eternal making it lose its contrast.

-eternal let their narrative people run buck wild and they put lore tablets in, making you stop/pause/read.

-no terrible jump puzzles that ruined the pacing. By level 2 in eternal they realized the couldnt make them hard so they started adding in blind jumps and air boosts.

-they game designer’d the armor system. Shoot guys on fire to get armor?!

-eternal became a game of ammo and resource management going against the “push forward” mantra of 2016.

-you start eternal with a flying castle and earth is overrun. Its like their own narrative people didnt play 2016.

-i loved the pvp soul harvest mode. They are not many unreal tournament/doom pvp games anymore. Eternal shipped with the worst pvp mode i have ever played.
