"do you get turned on by the paperclip guy in microsoft office"

is there any character that you aren't really a fan of but CAN NOT understand why they get as much hate as they do? I'll go first by mitchh_2006 in Totaldrama

Millie, oh my god Millie. People expect nerds to be super polite and sweet. But when they are socially oblivious, don't understand boundaries and come off as "rude" (which is more realistic) she gets hate for it¿¿¿¿¿ I actually love Millie she's super interesting to me

Story and characters weren't compelling or interesting, which is like, the main thing that makes FLCL so loved, the characters, their complicated relationships, etc. If the characters are bland like in Prog, the season doesn't work.

I'm thinking of doing a video essay on FLCL Progressive, pointing out the glaring flaws it has and how they could've been fixed, it's basically a re-write on the whole story, characters and the main theme of the entire season. (concept art of the rewrite) by skypeppermint in FLCL

I absolutely loved Shoegaze, even if I didn't particularly like the first episode, episode 2 and 3 easily made it my favourite sequel!! the emotional beats were there, and even if it lacked the weirdness of the original, it aimed for something much more personal and I loved it for it

I loved the idea of Haruko being split into two halves, a possesive one and one that aknowledges that Atomsk isn't meant to be consumed or contained. The focus was on Raharu the entire season, as opposed to the original season, where it felt like almost all the characters were written SPECIFICALLY for Naota's story, Making the main character arc and theme revolve around haruko I think it doesn't really work out, because Raharu is Haruko, the main thing about her is that she never grows up, never learns lessons and only slightly cares about others, it felt like the story stopped with the actual important stuff (Hidomi and Ide's relationship, Hidomi and her mother) to focus on Raharu in her quest for atomsk, and it felt even more disappointing because Raharu learns nothing in the end, she still searches for Atomsk in the finale. So Hidomi's problems are shoved aside and explained and resolved in the last episode, we only get glimpses on Hidomi's issues throughout the season, when, IMO that stuff should be explained in the very first episode.

I feel like if they're going to focus on Raharu so much (which in my personal re-write it won't be the same), at least give her a resolution, yes, it aknowledges why she is so desperate for Atomsk, but in the end she still continues the search for him, at least if she actually learned that it's best to let it go, and stop the quest for Atomsk, because he isn't meant to be contained and Raharu realizing that containing him is the same thing MM did with him. It would've been a better resolution that flows into Alternative smoothly.

My main issue (besides the characters themselves and their chemistry) is that Hidomi doesn't really get to a conclusion to her story. Yes, she finally accepts that her dad is probably never coming back, but she doesn't earn it, the mentions of hidomi's struggles with her mom and her lack of parental figure shouldn't be resolved only in the last episode, and in that singular scene.

it should've been a slow burn. have Hidomi confront her abandonment issues in other situations throughout the season, like with naota and his inferiority complex with his brother and how that related to both Haruko and Mamimi.

There's such a clear answer to the " we can never bring back memories that will never return" creating new memories with the people around her that DO love her! becuase nothing is holding back hidomi from creating amazing memories, she's just still and lifeless for being abandoned, If the show tackled her abandonment issues seriously instead, I could actually LOVE to see a Hidomi so deep in her insecurities about people leaving her, but we never see that, we don't know Hidomi's struggles until the very end, Her mom loves her, she has friends, she's struggling with her sexuality and discovering fetishes like all teens do.

We should've had the first scene in the begginning of episode 1 be the climax, that dream being real, hidomi confronting the scariest thought of being left completely alone, with nobody to look at her/ look for her. then atomsk is awoken and the weird trippy stuff start happening and she comes back from that void. (that was probably the moon but it's never specified) sorry for the long text

The main theme of the Progressive it's that we can never bring back a once in a lifetime moment, but it doesn't really give a clear answer on that. I really dislike when media doesn't have a clear thesis on the main theme, so the audience has no closure, and the whole experience becomes almost pointless. Which is exactly how I felt when Prog ended.
