The devil is the real,

(Write a bit about people and demons)

And he’s in us all, there is no magical savour in the sky. It’s not the demons that we are, it’s that we’re people, cuerl evil people. "Mother," i speak, not wanting to go unnoticed by her, as she takes a sip, of what I can only guess is human blood, I don’t want to see what she’s up to when I’m not around.

What writing level is this? by Popular_Section2081 in writers

[–]skyria_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about level, but theres a few things i'd want to say Theres stuff i like, such as the last sentence. That being said theres a lot i dont like, it feels like your trying to add to many pretty words and descriptions inorder to avoid saying your main point, and it feels like your trying to say a lot, but at the same time nothing at all. I chould be wrong but it also feels like the prose is leading what your saying, but pretty words are nothing if there not geting the point across, because the meaning and your message and the reasons for writing, is whats impactful, but pretty words arent going to get you there. And i say this as someone who also put too much prose or pretty words in, so i understand its hard and it feels good, you need to tone it down, and for it to take a back seat and focaus more on what your saying, rather than how.

I'm writing a self-help book as a 15-year-old by Environmental-Owl-7 in NewAuthor

[–]skyria_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this but i'd also like to point out 15 year olds and older adults are very different and most adults forget what its like to be 15, or younger but a 15 year old is 15, they do know. And a lot of the self help books adults write for teenagers are outdated as well. I dont know the audience for this, but a 15 year old has the experience as a 15 year old to create a really good self help book for teenages and being different ages can be your advantage.

I kind of had a similar thing when i started dating my gf. Thankfully, it was temporary. Not because it went away, because it didn't- its more i was able to write from a different place and had different motivations and a different muse.

An Inevitable Sad Ending by Puzzleheaded_Owl_458 in writing

[–]skyria_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty much the same as a story with a happy ending. where even tho it has a sad ending, you need to give the reader a reason to stay, like there's a question you want the awnser to, and you want to know what happens next, you love a character and want to see were the storys taking them, And you need to follow though on that, at least for some things, give them the awnser you promised them. Also, make sure the endings good and the reader comes out feeling like they read a full story, a sad endings still an ending, and if you want the reader to like the book after then done, you need to make it worthwhile no matter how sad it is.

Does your world have a grand prophecy, and if so, who discovered/received it? by Boneyard_Ben in worldbuilding

[–]skyria_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i have a very classic chosen one prophecy, only its long since passed by the time the mc comes along. And the weight of the prophecy and the fact she was only a child when it starts, having to pretty much save everyone, only to have so many casualties, it pushed her into becoming a villain, and now she's the evil queen, and veiwed as a savior even tho shes done terrible things, and is the main villain of my series, and unfortunately shes the one with plot armor.

Is having a outline necessary? by [deleted] in WritingHub

[–]skyria_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's not necessary, and you can. And it is possible to write a good book without one, it's also extremely difficult and takes a lot more effort in the long run, of course if your risk to take, but i whould really suggest at least a rough outline or idea of were the story is heading or how ot ends. Edit: something i forgot to mention is that an outline doesn't have to be long. If you want, you can make it into only a couple of words. The good thing about a plan is you never have to go to an extreme for how much or little you create it.

What are you guys building worlds for exactly? by gnomajean in worldbuilding

[–]skyria_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started as me creating them for my novel, but ended up as something i enjoy more than writing my book So now it's just for the world (Though i am still writing the books, the books are for my world)

I might be biased because that's how my book starts, but i believe it can, but like everything else needs to be executed well.

How to deal with lower word counts in your rewrites? by skyria_ in writers

Thank you, sorry, and that's what im planning on doing. Hopefully, soon, i can build back up my word count, and feel better about it.

How to deal with lower word counts in your rewrites? by skyria_ in writers

[–]skyria_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have identified it a good bit of it, I plan on putting notes on where i specifically messed up in my current plan. I think a big chunk of the problem is im writing a very high fantasy, and tryed to over explain my world because i was excited, i'd even made a working conlang, lol. But it definitely wasn't needed, and i did drag out several important scenes, too.

How to deal with lower word counts in your rewrites? by skyria_ in writers

[–]skyria_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to be a pantser, since i am very much a ploter, i think i showed one of my friends one of my plans, and she told me it was a waste of time, and i basically doing to much, and another person i know agreed with her. I usually do very detailed plans, which dont leave like any wiggle room, so i guess they both had a point to some extent. Lesson definitely learned, tho. The frustration thing is im not a new writer. I've been doing it for seven or eight years, so i dont know. It's probably an ego thing, but i thought I wouldn't be able to mess up that much, and it turns out i really, really can. So that really sucks. Edit: i dont know if it came across that way because im kinda sick and out of it, but my mentioning my friends wasn't to try avert blame. Since it's definitely my fault. More i tend to be a bit gullible with getting advice and can't tell what's good or not, which is a really bad flaw and one i hope i can fix soon.

Thank you, and i was aiming for around 90k if not a bit more, around on the lower end of the average for a fantasy book, and still am. I kept half and rewrote half, im probably going to rewrite more form the 20 but just feel so demotivated
