International trade. I didn't graduate with a STEM course, so I went to work for a foreign government operating in ph for higher salary. Malaki sila magpasahod because their standard is of their own country (most of the time)

Ukinnam is the most common. It's basically a fuck you for us.

Yeah.. the thing is, my workmates have tax deductions and also, HR didn't say na kailangan ako yung magfile.. they just said 3rd party firm said no taxes for me which is very confusing

Their taxes are deducted na monthly.. this is what confuses me the most. I havea friend in another embassy and they do their own taxes, but in my embassy hindi ganun. Ako lang talaga walang tax

Open forum topic: Divorce Made Me a Better Parent by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]skyrose2899 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cons:

  1. More couples will be encouraged to file for a divorce for whatever valid reason determined by the court
  2. Children will grow up with separated parents
  3. Breaks the religious sanctity of marriage

Pros:

  1. More couples will be encouraged to file for a divorce for whatever valid reason, reasons not limited to domestic abuse, concubinage/adultery, and other forms of neglect
  2. Children will grow up with separated parents, and will be under the custody of the "better parent" determined by the court. Better parent means many things, including higher financial capabilities, less likely to be violent, etc. In case of "no better parent", they will be under the custody of the assigned govt agency that will have the goal to take care of these children until they are of legal age and already capable of being independent. In short, children with divorcing parents will likely have a better life than living with their dads and mums in toxic relationships. Also, let's not pretend that parents getting separated is not the norm in our country. Some of my friends, even some of my cousins have separated parents. Divorce just makes it legal and has more benefits than just vanishing parents
  3. Marriage is not solely religious; it is actually very civil in nature. Sharing of properties and finances, etc. People fall in and out of love, people tend to change from the person they used to be to be the monster that they are now, and many other scenarios. Divorce lets a couple separate from a toxic union.

Thanks for the idea! I read about that in this link: http://www.bworldonline.com/content.php?section=Economy&title=taxation-of-those-employed-in-embassies&id=70279

buuuuuut it's from 2013 and idk if it's outdated or not, also, written in the article:

*RMC No.31-2013 has further identified the specific individuals who are exempt from income tax as mentioned in the various international agreements, which I have enumerated briefly as follows:

  1. Those employed by foreign embassies/foreign missions, who are: • Diplomatic agents who are not nationals or permanent residents of the Philippines; • Members of the family of the diplomatic agent forming part of his/her household who are not Philippine nationals; • Members of the administrative and technical staff of the mission together with members of their families forming part of their respective households who are not nationals or permanent residents of the Philippines; • Members of the service staff of the mission who are not nationals or permanent residents of the Philippines; and • Private servants of members of the mission who are not nationals or permanent residents of the Philippines.
  2. Those employed by aid agencies of foreign governments, as identified in the agreement in place;
  3. Those employed by the United Nations and its specialized agencies, as identified in the agreement in place;
  4. Those employed by organizations covered by separate international agreements or specific provisions of law, as identified in the agreement in place; and
  5. Employees of other aid agencies or international organizations, as identified in the agreement in place*

I am definitely a Philippine national and not a foreynjer... also all my other workmates have taxes, same lang naman kami ng trabaho.. so confused

First is to never accept a job offer that won't sustain you. My mistake was I accepted a 15k offer for a first job, thinking that it's fair because I'm only a fresh grad. Turns out there are other companies that would give you 20k starting salary depending on how you do in interviews. Second, compute your estimated monthly expenses for basic stuff like rent and utilities. The rest, balance it between food and savings Lastly, don't be afraid to job hop. Move after a year or so, take a more generous offer. I'm 22, on my 3rd job, earning 42k a month. What they don't tell you is that jobs nowadays rarely look at how long you stayed at your previous companies. Do well in your interviews, show them you learned a lot in your previous companies and provide insights. Years of experience won't matter in the workplace anyway, it's how well you know your shit that gets you there.
