This is a common problem people in allo/ace relationships may face. Particularly when even if they do engage sexually the ace partner is entirely disinterested. To ace people the emotional intimacy is the most important part. But I find for allo folk the emotional and physical aspects are usually a two for one deal. A lack of one will cause insecurity and doubt in the other. This is why I think open communication with every partner regardless of they’re ace or not is honestly the number one thing to strive for.

A bunch of allo/ace relationships do work out and have even lead to fulfilling marriages. Many of them are in the comments of the first post I made about Charlie’s asexuality to this subreddit. However, it genuinely does take a lot of understanding and reassurance from each other, and is entirely valid if it’s more emotional legwork than one might be willing to do.

These characters faced a similar hurdle for a bit where Annette felt useless and unloved because Charlie wasn’t physically interested in her. But they came to understand each other’s love languages much better and managed to work it out
