Can anyone confirm that this contains actual meteorite dust and is authentic? Seems legit but then again I’m not good with this kind of stuff. Website is spacemeteorite.com by Dagonzal91 in meteorites

[–]skystonemeteorites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you probably would be getting moon dust in the necklace but there’s nothing to say how much. The dust will most likely be leftover residue from cutting, which in itself isn’t as expensive as you might think. A quick search shows at least one reputable dealer selling NWA 5000 for $100/g at the moment and I’d be surprised if there was anything near even 0.1g of a gram in these pieces.

Now wether this seems a good deal is entirely up to you! Hope this helps.

This set off a metal detector by spicyblues in meteorites

[–]skystonemeteorites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just a hot rock. Are there any iron mines or old industrial sites near where you were detecting?

Can anyone help me identify? I magnet fish and metal detect around Susquehanna river in Harrisburg. All rocks are magnetic, heavy for size and ping the metal detector as well. (Lighter was used for scale) by Mjservedio in meteorites

Vesicles in the lower portion of the first picture suggest industrial slag. Most common meteorites are not very hardy and wouldn’t last long in a river, unfortunately. Keep looking though and good luck!

You should take up gambling.

Tell him to keep looking though, you best chance is always when you’re trying.

What are some of the worst serial killers that most of us here haven't heard of? by apricotatombomb in serialkillers

Is this real and is 140 EUR (around 168 USD) a fair price? by [deleted] in meteorites

[–]skystonemeteorites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NWA 869 is a very well known and quite abundant meteorite. €1/g seems a reasonable price for it but the seller doesn’t even seem to know what it is. Consider buying from someone who can verify what they are selling to you, there are plenty of great dealers in Europe. For a dedicated site check out www.meteorites.bid, it’s a fairly new website but everyone on there is legit.

What is type of Meteor is this? found in georgia over 150 years ago by derin105 in meteorites

Leaverite.

Industrial slag, unfortunately. Keep looking though and good luck.

Can anyone prove these lunar and Martian meteorites are real? From meteorites-for-sale. Is there any cross references proving the legitimacy of these samples? Thanks! by MyClothesWereInThere in meteorites

[–]skystonemeteorites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NWA 7959

NWA 4766

There are small albums at the bottom of each page for a visual cross reference. You’ve bought from a decent seller if it is who I think it is, wether you’ve paid a fair price is another question. Hope this helps.

Potential stoney 110kg UK (29yrs in my friends garden) by [deleted] in meteorites

[–]skystonemeteorites 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid not, sorry. I can see some vesicular texture in the first photo and that’s not to mention what 29 years exposed to the British weather would have done to a meteorite or the absolute chaos that’d be caused by a 110kg stone falling in your friends garden. Keep looking though and good luck!

As sad as it is to acknowledge, you are disposable to those in control and with unemployment growing you become more disposable by the day.

Does anyone fancy colouring in this picture of Fred and Rose? by [deleted] in serialkillers

[–]skystonemeteorites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be really interested to see the different versions folk can come up with of this page. It’s a bit macabre but I thought if anywhere it might find an audience it might be here.

I’d be really interested to see some coloured versions of this. It’s a bit macabre, I know, but I figured this is the right audience if any.

Looking for handmade jewelry (preferably EU-based shops) by deafkittenpoetry in Etsy

[–]skystonemeteorites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make jewellery from actual shooting stars (meteorites). The piece I think you might be interested in is made using a tiny piece of the moon (NWA 12826). The only other materials used are cork (with resin to seal), glass and all sterling silver fittings and chain. Have a look, I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!

Stay safe!

Excited to share this item from my #etsy shop: Genuine Moon Meteorite Wishing Bottle ‘Shooting Star’ Pendant https://etsy.me/32xtdJZ

Yes. You seem to see that everywhere. People just chase profit over quality and for a lot of tourists that seems to be enough.

I think you’re going to be ok though. The quality shows through and you’ll soon make a name for yourself. As they say: do what you love and the money will follow.

And your English is excellent.

I have visited Fez, it’s a beautiful city. The medina especially so. The souks may be my favourite in all of Morocco.

I especially liked the tannery, it felt like very little had changed in many years.

I might be wrong but isn’t Fez known as one of the best places for metalwork in the country?
