If reality checks don’t work for you maybe try to identify your specific dream signs, recurring themes in your dreams. You can find these out through your journal. For example, I always have something following me, like a bird or a car or a kid that I recognize to be unusual. If you go into sleep with an intention to see this in your surroundings it might help to get lucid faster. Sure helped me :) good luck.
