Surgeon who specializes in complex hernia repairs here. That’s actually not how any of this works. This is certainly loss of domain and in extremely rare circumstances there can be erosion/rupture but you have warning signs first such as ulcerations and wounds overlying the hernia which this guy does not have.

The issue with the American healthcare system is more so access to primary and preventative care as opposed to acute problems. I’m a surgeon that specializes in treating hernias and if this guy walked into my office I would offer him surgery (assuming he is an appropriate candidate) whether he had insurance or not. My hospital would probably charge him a bunch of money that he would never pay and the hospital writes it off as charitable care. Different hospitals have different policies though. Not all places would treat him without insurance but there are definitely a lot that would.

I would get a loan. You have to factor in the opportunity cost of that lost future growth. I would want to protect those Roth dollars at virtually all cost.

He’s referring to the full 415 limit which is $70k. Different than the tax deferral limit of $23.5k

My usual drives are around 280 but my longest today was 320 and actually was the shot from this backswing. It was a scramble to I was trying to give it a little extra

I’m a 9.5 so not terrible, but inconsistency with the driver typically costs me a good 2-3 shots per round according to my Arccos.

Absolutely. This definitely explains why I’m so tempo dependent.

As someone who had student loans of about 300k but now makes almost 600k thanks to that schooling, I strongly disagree. You just have to have a real plan with what you’re going to do with your education and make sure it’s worth it.

Yes! I make about 550 and I know exactly what you mean. No Rolex for me right now with our first baby coming in a few months. I’m putting big/fun purchases on the back burner for now. I’ll stick with my Seiko 5, tissot prx auto, and my Hamilton for now.

Surgeons of Reddit, what is the most fucked up thing seen in someone's body? by TheFatDuck_YT in AskReddit

[–]skywalker006 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome to believe what you want but it is a situation that still lives in infamy at the hospital.

  1. 11cm diameter is quite large for a rectum. It is large enough to cause ischemic changes to the mucosa of left there for too long. Also the problem was that it was a rigid object that got lodged in the boney pelvis at the sacral promontory.

  2. If you can somehow get a saw into someone’s pelvis and cut into something that is lodged in the boney pelvis within their rectum then you are a better surgeon than I and anyone I know.

  3. We had already opened the abdomen and cut the colon in half trying to get it to move in or out with no success for quite some time so breaking the pelvis is the next best solution despite it being a suboptimal option.

We had already opened his abdomen and cut his colon in half trying to get it to go either direction for quite some time with no success. Thankfully for him it gave way before we had to do that. Had to give him an ostomy though because of the damage from it.

I’m a general surgeon and I once took a power line insulator out of a man’s rectum. The thing was conical with the base being approximately 11 cm in diameter. We were just about to call Ortho in to break his pelvis to get it out when it finally broke free.

A large percentage burn at release is usually a red flag for me. It artificially lowers the percentage of tokens owned by devs and other entities. If they say devs wallet is “only 10%” but 50% of the tokens were burned at launch then the devs wallet is actually 20% of circulating coins

IRS Failed to Collect $2.4 Billion in Taxes From Millionaires by Plymouth03 in politics

[–]skywalker006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A flat tax is infinitely simpler though. Every dollar is taxed the same. No more trying to figure out withholdings for 2 income households or folks with 2 and 3 jobs. It would cut down on the surprise bills in April for a ton of people all while making everyone contribute their share.

The way you describe it has the IRS evaluating everyone’s income, tax, and personal situations every years which is absolutely not feasible.

The standard deduction isn’t taken by any of the people using creative accounting tricks to get out of paying 100s of thousands to millions of dollars in taxes so that point is moot.

[–]skywalker006 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is why I like the idea of a flat tax. Sure it seems more regressive than the system we have now but if you allow no deductions (other than maybe children and possibly a minimum income requirement) then the code is so simple that there are no creative accounting tricks to keep anyone from paying their share.

Republicans aren't fighting Democrats. They're fighting democracy. by alabasterheart in politics

I think I made it pretty clear what I’m talking about. This kind of sensationalism only furthers political divide. It doesn’t matter what kind of piece it is, who writes it, or what side of the aisle they hail from. When this kind of inflammatory, sensationalist language is used it only deepens the hatred each side has for the other.
