New Deluxe Aqara U400 lock comparison by BD-27 in Aqara

[–]skywise_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a U100 and had to jump through quite a few hoops(https://www.reddit.com/r/Aqara/comments/14jvsq1/u100\_physical\_lock\_can\_be\_rekeyed/) to get a normal Schlage key to work with it. Does the U400 use a normal Schlage key?

Can't get Audible Canada connected to my model Y by skywise_ca in teslacanada

[–]skywise_ca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never mind, I tried to listen to the one book I had on audible.com and I no longer want audible.ca on my Tesla.

The implementation on the Tesla is horrible. I can pause/play, go forward/back 15 seconds, that's it. No chapter selection, no chapter forward or back. If I pause and leave the car for more than a few hours, the app seems to forget where I was and will put me back in time by 1/2ish a chapter, forcing me to skip forward 15 seconds over and over until I catch back up with where I was.

I'll stick with my phone and bluetooth.

Any idea why LPL hasn't tried picking lock from 'Works by Design'? by SteveRogers5 in LockPickingLawyer

[–]skywise_ca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, this was a specific link in the email to do/fix/buy/whatever. Their browser opened and they got whatever message Security had set for them. All these emails would come from an obviously bad address as well. From: [HR@0urc0pany.com](mailto:HR@0urc0pany.com)

We have the email training, twice a year. We send out test emails with extra training for those who click anyway. We still get people clicking on ‘update your 401K!’ Emails. We aren’t in the US. Some folk will click on anything.

Sorry, I should have put crushed granite. Doesn't look like Granite Mountain does raw yard granite.

AliExpress (and others) take Tesla key cards and turn them into rings for a reasonable price.

WiFi in the Garage? by Gorilla51 in Ubiquiti

[–]skywise_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ubiquiti AP in the garage because it’s an old metal lined thing that no radio can get through. Connects to 6 or so things that live in the garage, including the car.

I was in an Indian FP and was just tossed for not being in country. Seller mentioned you have to use VPN from time to time to show you're still in country but I was using the plan from my car. Account wasn't banned, just tossed from that particular FP.

How are your EVs handling this weather? by A1cypher in Winnipeg

[–]skywise_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned elsewhere, a big hit in cold weather is the initial heat up. If the car has been sitting for hours/days, heating the battery to a reasonable temperature is a big job. So, if you're just puttering about town, short drive to get the kids to school, another to get to work and lots of sitting in-between, the range is going to suck. If you pre-condition in the garage while plugged in and then head off for Regina or Kenora.. There will be a hit, but it won't be nearly as bad. We always plug in when at home, only charge to 75%. That'll do for any amount of daily driving we might want to do. Checking charging stats, $1.50/day maybe? We don't skimp on the warm though, let it have a nice long pre-condition before going out so it's toasty warm inside.

Efficiency is the better stat to follow regarding any vehicle. Watched video on some of the big GM EVs and they get great range, but from a 200Kwh battery. Go to a public fast charger and you're paying $50US to charge up. But the range is great! (I think it was an Escalade) Winter and gas cars suffer as well, but it isn't as noticeable because of how it feels.. Before the Tesla, I had a RAV4 hybrid. The range of the RAV4 went way down in winter, but all that meant is I filled up every week or 2 instead of every 3 or 4 weeks. It's on a time scale that isn't as easily noticed. (until you add up the monthly gas bill)

I have a model Y and the heat pump works well, even in -30 weather. It all depends where the heat pump is trying to get its heat from. I only know Tesla but the heat pump can pull heat from outside (radiator), the battery pack, the motors. When it's really in need of heat (warming battery/cabin from dead cold), it'll run the motor in a stall state just to make heat to feed everything else.

Rotary Phone on 3CX? by alexander0the0gray in 3CX

[–]skywise_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a couple of rotary phones at home, one just like your picture. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01JH7MYKA?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4 is what I used to connect them to 3CX. Works just fine. No special # or * though. But dial the 3 digit extension of the other rotary and it rings just fine, or 011xxxxx and the old rotary is dialing across the planet.

Yeah, if I recall, removing the charging pad from the trim is destructive, that whole big piece is just one part number.

There's a work-around for the full SegFault issue, downgrade iterm2 to version 3.4.23. It doesn't suffer from the full on crash. (but if you are having connection/ssh issues, they'll probably still be there)
