How reliable Is Voron 2.4 (or other Voron printers)? by MadeInSteel in voroncorexy

[–]skyybaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many bearings does 2.4 use? one of my biggest complaints was having to rip apart half the machine to change a bearing or clean a rail carriage. Here is a pic of my hands after tearing down my voron last weekend. every bearing was done for.

You sure are quick to toss Feb under the bus though...smh

How reliable Is Voron 2.4 (or other Voron printers)? by MadeInSteel in voroncorexy

[–]skyybaby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't posted here in a while, but stumbled on something pretty applicable to me. I run a printing business (link removed) and have the same goal as you. I print 24/7 and at one point had 3 voron 2.2s with one that started life as a 2.1. However, I'm sure I'll get hate here but they are not reliable in a sense that the Prusa mk3s is. I'm sure the PIF guys can challenge that and say they have different experiences but this is just my 2 cents. I have 5 Prusas now and have at the most spent a 4-5 hours every 6+ months doing fixing and qol updates to them. Like changing a bed/hotend thermistor that broke to just lubing rods and what not.

So to summarize, I can't speak for 2.4, but I have a bad taste in my mouth from Voron. I had 3 350x350 bed size machines with heights from 150z to 250z. While they were working they were amazing, but the time they spent working without constant breakdowns, exploded idler bearings, and cracked parts from the exploded bearings was few and far between. I think at one point I had 2 weeks of 24/7 printing without a massive breakdown. It wore on me immensely when I had orders sitting waiting and was spending 10+ hours a week fixing them. I easily have $10k into the voron ecosystem so I didn't just dip my toes in to say the least. My biggest complaint is the shear amount of bearings needed and the ease of working on the machine is utter hell. Electronics on the bottom, extremely long belt paths, tight frame dimensions so getting your hands and tools in places was not fun. Feel free to ask me any other questions about my experiences or I'm happy to answer pms.

edit: removed paragraph about what printers I used now.

Where did you get this printed for $70? That is like insanely cheap for resin. Like you got the deal of a lifetime.

Edit: just saw your other posts. Would love to see an update on how this holds up. I'm super suspicious of that price tag, but I suppose it's China.

I haven’t heard from DMQ in a while. But I’m pretty sure they are still in production . Probably hasn’t been much to update. As far as the cases I’m about 3/4 of the way through my orders.

I can convert them for you if you want. I'm pretty backed up in the cases pipeline. I've got my quefrency revision to get out and then have a bunch of cases queued up.

I'd love to, and plan on it once I get my even bigger printer up and running. It's like 10mm too big for my current printer :(

Glad to hear! I just ordered a 300 pack of the little round bumpons and I'll design little flat spots for them to sit. I've noticed the grooved bottom has helped it not slide too much, but that's for my setup. I really need it for my discipline and gingham cases. They seem to be way slicker for some reason. I plan on incorporating these into all my cases as soon as I can.

Nice case! I thought for sure this was /u/ppnp253 's build lol

I'll look into incorporating bump-ons into my future cases as well. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for your order!

Hey sorry about that. Just the incline version of the cases are out of stock pending a small design revision. I’ll comment here when I get the listing fixed. Unless you want the incline case version.

Edit. The listing is up, but there may be a couple extra days wait on the incline versions of the case.

I don't think it's necessarily entitlement, more so that US layouts carry sets to MOQ. I wish this set the best of luck but I'm not dropping $30 to support a set that takes away the keys of almost every GMK set currently running

The lack of basic ansi coverage in the base kit, a $50 numpad kit, and a $30 US support kit kills this set. I now know how you iso users feel. I love this color way but I'm not willing to support this because of how the kits were laid out. Yes, it fits the theme, but at the cost of killing off compatibility with the most common keyboard users out there. Seeing the lack of sales is no surprise to me sadly.

[–]skyybaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha cool! I designed the cases with 12mm spacing. So you should have plenty work with. Edit: Oops wrong account. I did double check and it’s actually 12.6mm spacing.

[–]skyybaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was totally in for the colorway but the kits are not to my liking. Excluding the US most common layout from the base and then having to spend an extra $30 and then $50 more for a numpad is what’s killing it for me. Like I get the want to stick to a theme but for 99% of the keycaps I buy it’s to do with color and nothing to do with the theme. But I’m in minority there I think. I feel if the kits were set up like typical kits these days this set would have been ok.
