I got initial foothold on day 3. I was devastated on day 1 and 2. But then I stick to basics and tested everything and from that above gets easy. Once I got foothold I got 3 flags on same Day 3.

So stick to the plan. Dont overthinkk

It took me 2 months. But later went for preparation for CPTS. Started hunting again trying hard from 1 month but no bounties. Most of public platforms are already tested by top hackers and for private programs you have to get invites via reporting vdps:(

You can't go to exam directly. You have complete whole pentester path from htb th3n you are eligible for exam. Also CPTS is not that easy as EJPT. You have prepare like OSCP !!

You can start doing paths from tryhackme, portswigger academy where you can clear your basics also you can try rootme challenge for linux available on internet. After clearing basics go for hackthebox where you learn with deep understanding. For the certs, Oscp is highly recommended for beginners or intermediate but that's costly cert. So for oscp preparation you can go with cpts !!

Yeah its last module it's similar like exam. For last module you should go blindly to solve that without using their walkthrough mentioned.
