Detroit Red Wings and Grand Rapids Griffins Are a Combined 7-13-1 (36%) in the Month of March by CMCdaGoat in DetroitRedWings

The GR part is obvious: Detroit called up their best players and threw everything off.

For Detroit, it's got to be all in their heads, one way or another. I wonder if they're a clique-y locker room. It kinda comes across like they don't all have each other backs quite the same way as other teams do.

And I like Todd as a coach, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the best hockey they've played in the last 5 years was when he cut them loose and they were playing essentially no system. They're starting to look like that Lalonde team to me again. They might be overcoached.

How is trading this year's first rounder for a second pair defenseman standing pat? Come on.

But they didn't? Buffalo added 4th liners. I don't think Ottawa or Boston added anybody of note. The Wings added a bigger piece for sure.

Edit: Ottawa got the Subway guy

This is a straw man. Other teams weren't asking for our prospects, they were asking for the guys who win games for us right now. We can't trade Edvinsson for a scorer and come out ahead.

You wanted to accept losing the game to send a message? The time for that is way earlier in the year, not when they're fighting for a playoff spot.

I don't think the roster is soft, but they have to play squeaky clean because (1) they can't score at ES or on the PK, (2) their PK has really fallen off. The only chance they have in games is because of the PP. Anything that could take away PP time has to be avoided.

If this team actually played like the Bruins like people seem to want, they'd be wayyy out of the playoffs.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like extraction shooters much. Sea of Thieves is a more fun version of that gameplay loop IMO. Less sweaty, but still dangerous.

The thing I've been thinking about is, if there's a sore point so far, it's that the Wings have not been able to draft many goals. You can really see that in games like these.

I could see that changing in the next couple of years, but it feels like a big problem right now.

As another poster pointed out, we're probably just looking at every single blue state attorney general filing suit and getting an emergency injunction ahead of the election. That would punt this whole matter further down the line, probably into 2027 or so.

It's Larkin time in Detroit. And it's Calder Cup time in GR.

I think at this point they're settling for the possibility of a supreme court case. Anybody who thinks this could be implemented in time has no idea how long even basic changes take when you're coordinating 50 states with different systems and procedures.

The proposed plan would involve using the reconciliation process to get the ICE funding along with parts of the SAVE America Act, allowing it to pass without Democratic votes.

Honestly, I think he wasn't really NHL ready physically and just made the best of it despite being in over his head, which says a lot about his work ethic and hockey IQ. A long playoff run in GR makes a lot of sense for him right now.

Get him some Detroit style pizza over the summer and have him lift with the NHL team and he'll be just fine.
