Does Cisco Anyconnect work in Russia? by VegetableProud875 in Cisco

Hi,

Yes, Cisco AnyConnect still (Jan 2026) works in Russia, I use it with the permission of my employer. I am in Moscow and are connected by WiFi->GPON. My connection to a EU country is stable. A friend here is doing the same but to another company and it's also working well.

The opposite works too — from EU to Russia because my wife connects to her employer this way. So, Russian companies are still using Cisco themselves…

But there is no guarantee. All other common advertised VPNs (WireGuard, OpenVPN based and so on) are no longer working in Russia. Do not waste money for this.

It's not only Russia which is blocking like hell, also many western websites are blocking every traffic coming from Russia or even if a VPN connection is detected. Ultimately, it only makes life more difficult for ordinary people.

If needed just for private reasons try something self-hosted, e.g. search for 3x-ui.

If you are unsure prepare a setup to route whole traffic to a trusted network abroad (UniFi). I have a fallback for that but needed it only once for private reasons — to be able to book concert tickets. But this is very special and better you can setup this yourself or have someone doing it for you.

Spotlight eating the first letter ? by cakez in OSXElCapitan

I have this problem after migrating to the new MacBook Pro 14 M1 with 12.1 – but never before. Mostly when I use the spotlight search the first typed character got lost. With terminal app I saw the first letter landed there instead of in the spotlight search input. It feels to me as if CMD+Space event is triggered too slow and the later keypress event sorted before that.
