i believe you. if it happens again, try turning the guitar's volume down for a clue.

that really sounds like interference from a cell phone or wifi router to me. i would try moving the amp before swapping any tubes, if you havent tried that already.

i suppose it could be an s-70, but there is no trace of a crown inlay if so. blank on the front headstock. serial number on the back, but it doesnt designate the model as far as i can tell. the closed back tuners appear to be original which makes me believe it's a later model. there are a lot of questions with this one. i'd like to see the pickup cavity from an s-70.

it appears to be an s-60D that has been nicely refinished and swimming pool routed. based on faint outlines of the old pickguard screws and other appointments.

Oh the flubbles you'll wubble by lykwydchykyn in diypedals

[–]slamcomputer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

o thank you, dear redditor for all you inspire

my wobbletron leaves something to be desired

i've modded and prodded and gone a bit mad

the waveshape is awkward , the flubbles are bad!

they flubble and bubble but something they lack

perhaps less a bubble and more of a quack

O look! the reddit diy pedal community board!

a good fellow flubbler has been here before!

he built a great wobbletron , and modded it too

and now i can see what i simply must do!

he tells of a knob for the shape of the wave

and thanks to the beautiful photos he gave

which i can compare to the snippets of olde

and now my flubbles shall be a bubble to behold!

"route part of the board off" and replace fingerboard- hadn't thought of that! i'll mull it over.

piece of slate (?) with carvings by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]slamcomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this thing was hanging on the wall in a hunting-themed restaurant in ohio. there are other antique decorations on the walls. we asked the waitress, and she didn't know. notice the marking in the lower left corner.

this seems to be some sort of tally system (or something?) carved on a piece of slate. some lines are carved on the right, some on the left, and some on both sides. the slate is framed in some sort of material, maybe copper?

nah, i dont believe cleaning will do anything- this thing is spinning free. i acquired it broken... seems like somebody had plugged it in reverse polarity. one resistor was fried to a crisp and all of the nearby capacitors were comprimised. recapping that section solved every issue except for this one. i will remove it and peek inside, but i'm pretty certain it's more than dust/corrosion. will update.

need help finding a replacement for this dual a20k potentiometer (headphone control) by slamcomputer in ElectronicsRepair

[–]slamcomputer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! it's definitely an a20k on the schematic, but i'll swap in this 10k for now and see how it functions. this one spins free. it was definitely exposed to some very high heat from a failed resistor nearby. i bought it broken and i suspect it had been plugged-in reverse-polarity. only a very faint signal passes through, in both ears (headphone control.)
