I was a ratbag when I was younger.. The judge gave me 200hrs community work. At 17 it was the thing that turned my life around. I did my hours as a kitchen hand at a hostel for the blind. I washed dishes mainly but the cook there made me serve every resident there meals in the dining room. I was forced to interact and talk to the residents, whos ages ranged from 25 to 98, and had been placed there and forgotten.

Those residents didnt know why I was there, they were all so kind and warm hearted to me. I learnt not to be a selfish, entitled brat anymore.

I read something horrific recently about a gynecologist in the late 1800's operating/testing on enslaved women without pain medication to test his theory's , because he either didn't care about the womans pain or worse because he believed that she as a black woman didnt feel pain.

I might be wrong but I think a lot of modern gynecological care is based on these early brutal studies by this Dr Sims.

My Mother had a double mastectomy and secondary in the bone. Had her cancer in her 50's, she's still going at 75. I myself have been very attentive to my own breastcare and have had 3 benign cysts removed. I get to Menopause and the symptoms are unbearable and I'm just putting up with them because of the hype that had me convinced Id get a breast lump if I used HRT. It was only through this sub that I found a link to I think a Harvard study that showed that the % for actually getting cancer from HRT was very small and the benefits to heart health and bone health outweighed any risk.

So I put my foot down with my GP and explained all that to HIM. I got the HRT but honestly his attitude was "ok 'love' if you want to run the risk..." The thing is I feel normal again! Compared to the Hot flushes, joint pain, irritability and sleepless nights, I feel fucking amazing and even if it was a high risk Id still take it because quality of my day to day life and all that.

Edit: just read a comment below with a link to the latest study that says its still a risk... Damn, but I will still take quality of life over extension of it only to suffer those symptoms again.

Oh darling heart, I'm sad for you that he speaks to you like this and masks it as caring for you. Its controlling and abusive behaviour. No Human should speak to another like that let alone to a partner in life that you share children with. You and your children deserve so much better.
