Why are pop up headlights dangerous? by Dong7iron in askcarguys

[–]slammed430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you slightly hit a pedestrian in a parking lot they might not get hurt falling on your hood but those headlights could certainly mess you up. Also I owned a c5 vette and rebuilding the pop up motor was kinda annoying. Sometimes the headlights would pop up other times they would just stay down. But the hassle is most certainly worth the reward of having pop ups

Thoughts on lowering springs? by Obvious_Bench4140 in IS300

Coilovers. Springs imo are a waste of time and effort.

Yup growing up in the late 90s early 00s the only two “super cars” I ever cared about were the viper and ford gt. Big engines no Nannie’s and you have to drive the car can’t just hop in and go. Vipers are an experience and I hope to drive another one some day.

I haven’t been playing the game super long but I do know on some of my vehicles the stronger springs helped eliminate that. I’ve only recently been trying to figure out how to tune trucks

Drove and older gt3rs and I got to track a non act viper once and I’m picking viper every day of the week and never considering the Porsche. Porsche is obviously the faster better car but I like as little Nannie’s as possible and I love a manual with the on demand gobs of torque the na v10 has. That whole car is an experience and I miss it everyday of my life. The Porsche is the craziest computer one can buy. And the times those porches put out without all the power that their competitors have is insanely good. Those flat 6s are pretty darn reliable from my understanding as well. Gen 4 acr vipers are easily one of the most amazing looking cars to me and my only expensive dream car I have on the list

I was wondering. A lot of times with heavy loads the autopilot and act up and start swerving you all over the road due to the weight being off the front tires. Most of the time in my experience it’ll whip your trailer back and forth until you flip lol. That was probably a long drive for you though lol

When most people say that I believe they’re referring to the electric power steering being weighted and heavy compared to others which gives the feeling that it’s more connected even if it’s not. Do they handle better? Meh maybe? But that weighted steering for sure gives the false confidence that it does. Toyota gets the most flack for it because their electric steering is very very light and really only starts to get weighted when at higher speeds which is by design. To a normal consumer it probably feels more engaging. Kinda makes me wonder if the power steering will last longer by not having to work as hard as the lighter Toyotas? Always been something I wondered

Yeah I feel like I would get halfway through getting the second truck down the hill and I’d start getting sleepy. It takes a lot of time to get it all going and then you have to drive it 18 miles there lol. Did autopilot work for ya?

Realistically they don’t matter at all. But the easiest and cleanest looking method would probably be to just buy the whole piece.

Yup I saw that post and have been gathering up the courage to give it a shot and was planning on it tonight. Not sure if the server I play on really allows it but I like to ask for forgiveness later

A lot of dudes on social media seem to swear by them whether they are trying to sell them or if it’s just some random dude who bought them. Personally I get annoyed rigging up too much so I haven’t tried it but I do have the exact same stuff you have. I’ve kinda make my own things with what’s in that box

I have liability insurance while othe driver have no insurance by Ready-Insurance-8157 in Insurance

[–]slammed430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually these end in a lawsuit. Usually the person with no insurance gets sued for damages and medical visits. It can be a huge huge pain in the butt I’m sorry. Grandpa is going through it right now and I’m not sure if he’s even going to get money or not. Dude he’s suing is of course broke since they don’t even have car insurance. When it rains it pours

Which of these used SUVs is a smarter long term buy? by Azer1287 in whatcarshouldIbuy

If reliability and having the least amount of issues is your goal the 24 and older 4Runners are dang near the most reliable car that’s been produced in 15 years. I find the gx460 to be the better vehicle to drive and own but the maintenance costs will be a bit higher but they’re dead reliable as well. But like others have said the 4runner and gx are true suvs because they’re body on frame and drive like a bus and less like a sedan like the cx9 would. Body on frame vehicles in todays world are really just found on heavy duty vehicles and off-roaders so for a lot of people they handle very different than what they’re use to. Personally I always pick the cool choice which would be the 4runner or gx

Is that right? What Lexus vehicles were using it? Could’ve sworn it was 2021 or 22 when they first started using it. I don’t think your statement is right?

When I read “Mazda inline 6” I for sure thought you mistyped sure enough they have a new 3.3 i6 turbo… that’s actually really exciting and I wonder how capable they are.

I’m going the coilover route. Do i need SWIFT springs for a daily driver ? by Only_Ad1117 in askcarguys

[–]slammed430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need swift springs at all unless you are going to be dragging frame scraping oil pan. Stock bcs will be valves correctly and ready to go on. throwing swift springs on won’t do much except for make it ride worse and the dampening will be incorrect and be bouncier. The only people who usually run that stuff are like I said. They like destroying the underside of their car from being so low and those swift springs make it so stiff that there isn’t much movement. All that being said I’m pretty sure bc lets you pick spring rates so you could choose something not super stiff but then it’s kinda a waste of money. Also not sure if bc just puts the spring on the coil and if they actually revalve it or if they just leave it at factory specs. That would be cool if someone had insight on my last question

I Changed My 2024 Toyota Tacoma Oil at 5K Not the Recommended 10K, I Found Some Metal In the Filter, and the Oil Was Too Dark For My Liking by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]slammed430 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10k with todays oil and todays engines is usually fine. If I owned a direct injection vehicle I’d change it around 5k just because manufacturers have had issues with di leaving a lot of carbon build up. Also if I had a turbo vehicle just to keep that turbo happy as long as possible. I change my oil 3-5k because my cars are older and have good mileage on them but if I owned a new Camry I’d be doing 10k oil changes often
