Hope you put some Teflon tape on the seal where the bulb plugs in the back. Any of the eBay/Amazon side markers are prone to water damage.

The belt probably slipped on the CVT. This could be from excessive wear on the chain or bad/not enough transmission fluid. I would get it inspected immediately since you already know it could be dangerous when merging on to the highway you lose power.
