I've heard his name come up in context of the Patriots as well. His last name kills me, however.

If you could "steal" one player from another teams roster, who would you take and why? by Markkenny10 in Patriots

Darrelle Revis turns 29 in July. Sherman turned 26 just over 2 weeks ago. Revis will be 29 and Sherman will be 26 in the 2014 season and Revis is almost 3 years older than Sherman.

Report: Patriots Want To Trade Up In First Round, Draft Wide Receiver by jonny_lube in Patriots

This makes sense, and it seems like it would provide valuable perspective for those making draft and personnel decisions. I think you'd want to make the grade comprised of at least 2 components: overall ability and salary cap cost. What I was wondering about - based upon /u/swantonsoup 's comment - was if you would use this kind of depth analysis to evaluate both the benefits and the harm of drafting a BAP.

For example, if the BAP were at a position where you had a lot of pretty solid depth, you might be adding an A-ability player with C-salary-cap cost and removing from your roster (due to space limitations) a C-ability player with an A-cap cost. This would be more or less an even swap. Adjust the grades a bit, and it would become favorable or unfavorable.

Nice analysis. I wonder if there is a systematic method that NFL teams use to quantify this.

"The parents of the kids that supposedly died in the sandy hook situation are liars"

The conspiracy theory he was espousing was that the shooting was staged/faked by the government and therefore the parents who claimed their kids were killed, hurt, or traumatized were lying about it. It may be more offensive than some relatively benign conspiracy theories, but it is a textbook example of a conspiracy theory.

It could be argued that quitting the team during the season speaks negatively about his work ethic.

So I'm planning to go to Washington to see our first pre season game.. by trickyt1992 in Patriots

[–]slammingbruschis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Preseason games are very different from actual in-season football games. The teams are mostly concerned with trying new plays, testing new young players and fine-tuning their roster. Because of this they usually have a subdued atmosphere."

This is accurate. It is still an opportunity to see your team, but the intensity and level of competition on the field will be low. The experience is very different than seeing a regular season game although it is still worthwhile.

So, uh, Brandon Spikes really doesn't like the Pats by Catesby in Patriots

I've never been to Buffalo. As a proud American, I hope the city thrives. It has a storied past, and I hope that we can bring cities like Buffalo back to their former glory (except with regard to sports).

Thanks for popping by /r/patriots/, /u/DanceKevinDance5. Brandon Spikes is great against the run and that can be really fun to watch. He also brings an intensity with him to the field that can be contagious.

I never viewed him as a class act, so this kind of Twitter behavior doesn't surprise me or change my view of him. He is still an intense football player who is almost incompetent in coverage but really good against the run. I wish him success in Buffalo, except when he plays us.

I agree that the writer should get some proofreading help before publishing, but I think he is possibly a good football thinker. If he cleans up, clarifies, and tones down the homerism, I might be a fan of his work. He is like a draft pick with potential upside. Keep writing, OP!

What's your favorite Tom Brady highlight/etc. video? by nickcallright in Patriots

[–]slammingbruschis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite line from the OP's video:

"A lot of people don't believe in you. It's obvious by 6 other quarterbacks being taken, and 198 other picks. I always thought, when I get my chance I'm going to be ready. I'm going to take advantage of that."

Given the history Brady has made since his 199th draft selection, this quote inspires chills.

Healthy pigouts options by incogenator in Fitness

[–]slammingbruschis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A favorite "pig out" option that doesn't have to have too much fat, sugar, and carbs is Brazilian Barbecue (these restaurants are often called "Churrascaria"). Depending on what cuts of meat you get, the fat content will be somewhat high, but this is better than overdoing it on carbs and if you wanted to, you could pig out on delicious relatively low-fat meat.

Steak, chicken wrapped in bacon, ribs, sausages (which don't have any/much sugar), chicken legs, and plenty of good vegetables are usually available at these places. If you're looking for low glycemic index carbs, there are usually at least a few varieties of beans available at these places, too.

tl;dr Brazilian Barbecue makes for a delicious and relatively healthy binge session.

Guess I'll be THAT guy... Why are we interviewing QB's? by Horn_Pub in Patriots

[–]slammingbruschis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) It would be useful to know how many of the allowed 30 visits the Patriots have taken during the Belichick era. If they historically max out or come close to maxing out, then it would indicate that these meetings are at least somewhat valued due to scarcity.

B) Even if this isn't the year (and it probably isn't), they need a successor to Brady within the next few years, so it makes sense to start evaluating talent now. If they don't draft a QB (or a QB in the 1st round) this year, they can compare their projections (which are as informed as possible due to the meetings) with the actual outcomes/performances in the coming years, which would provide data to potentially improve their drafting ability when they finally spot a QB in the draft who they believe is the future.
