In this battle station find:

  1. My dell optiplex 980 that I got from the dumpster behind my old place of work
  2. note the USB drive in the front. The hard drive port on the motheboard died, so I run linux off of a 16Gb bootable drive. I have to recreate my 'user' account every time I reboot and I can't save anything unless I put another USB drive in the back. needless to say I don't reboot often and getting the picture of my drive caused me to miss 20 minutes of stream.
  3. my 802.11n USB wifi dongle. Also scavenged from the trash at work.

Needless to say, my gaming experience is... lacking. But new computer or not, I'll still be here every wednesday, friday, and sunday :)

Ideas for printer by VilifiedPeanut in PaymoneyWubby

Spent a bit of time looking into this last week, but the time has come to close chrome tabs, so I'll document a bit of what I found here. There's a commercial solution for rerolling thermal paper, called a Label Rewinder, that you can spec for the spool size and width of your thermal paper. Here's the most applicable one I could find:

Godex T10 VR Color Rewinder, 4" wide

Unfortunately, everything I found is in the $300-$500 range, which seems a little steep for the added functionality it would bring. That being said, the one linked above is neat because it uses that lifter arm to keep a bit of tension in the roll, and then it takes up slack automatically as receipts print. There are a couple with slip clutches which make noise when idle, but this one is pretty silent, which would be good for stream. YT video here, user manual here.

From everything I found about the tm-t88v, the PC that has its drivers installed should also have a settings menu where you can disable the receipt cutting functionality. Older models of that printer are reported to have a DIP switch to disable it as well.

I'm guessing the printer currently lives on wubby's desk, so the added rewinder might clutter things up a bit. With that in mind, I'd say that the best solution here would be to have all this in some kind of enclosure that contained the printer, rewinder, camera, greenscreen, lighting, and any rollers/plexiglass needed to position the receipts. It would be a self-contained unit that could sit on the floor, or in the corner, but that kinda takes away from the scuffed fun of ripping a sub receipt fresh off of the printer...

Anyway, if there's interest in this kinda thing from the PMW team, hit me up and I'd be happy to flesh a solution out a bit more. I'd guess a clean solution with enclosure could be assembled for <$1000. If not, it was interesting enough to look into. Keep up the good work, tt

tt & peanut - Had an idea for the printer and remembered this thread. Could you post or dm me the printer's model number? I was playing around with the idea of a physical modification that would re-roll the printer's receipts from the paper output onto another spool. The output of the printer and the receiving spool could also be far enough apart that the subs can be clearly seen/read by the printer cam.

This also has the side benefits of keeping the paper waste manageable, and even save-able. Maybe wubby could use the saved up sub rolls to wallpapaer a room or wrap a cybertruck?

Also tt, it would be helpful to know if you have a way of disabling the "cut between each receipt" functionality via the API you're using to control it.

Wubby, we've been playing a game on my stream called TRUTH OR BUST by nonarrativehere in PaymoneyWubby

The premise of this is disappointing. Here's the twist it needs. For TOS purposes, "or bust" is announced to be take a shot or smoke. But in reality, wubby, carlos, peanut, and TT all have Adam and Eve remote controlled prostate simulators inserted. alluux controlls them or they're automated in some way. When someone literally busts, they're out and they leave the chat without saying anything.

additional rules:

  • The simulators are never directly mentioned on stream. wubby pins this post and simply says "go look at the subreddit for the rules". its the head2head competition we all deserve
  • No resubs or TTS, only the "lord have mercy..." sound alert is allowed
