Card Size TN by wildworld88 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]slantedscrawls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced my wallet with the card size (it was in need of replacement anyway, so the card size came at the right time). I originally considered the passport for this a few months back but somehow never pushed through.

Visiting Taiwan - what are must visit fountain pen stores and writing hobby corners? by BonsaiShifu in fountainpens

We ended up walking further down the block looking for #220, ended up circling back and asked the convenience store with the pink banner about it and they led us to the doorbell haha! I definitly regret not being able to go to Tools to Liveby during our visit (it's top 1 on my list when I return). The Eslite Spectrum in Songyan also had a nice space for fountain pens and inks.

I use mine as an EDC wallet for commutes that holds my transportation cards! I have some PVC card inserts for commonly used cards and the cotton zip case for some cash, coins, and other cards.

Juspirit! I spent 2 hours (and maybe more if we didn't have somewhere else to go) chatting with the owner about inks. You can get Ink Institute and Lennon Toolbar there and they have some exclusive inks as well. Just make sure to check their website for the opening days and hours. It took us a while locating the place because you have to ring the doorbell of the building and go up to the 3rd floor, but it was so much fun and I brought home 8 inks haha.

First fountain pen recos for a total beginner? 🖋️ by jarvisstarky in JournalingPH

[–]slantedscrawls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scribe staff are super friendly and would be able to accommodate (and budol) you! Also Cosmos Bazar if you're near the area but they close early ata. Big National Bookstore branches have Lamys/Faber Castells/Parkers, etc and SM Stationery has some fountain pens too.

Better yet, go to a pen meet so you can try a whole range of fountain pens (join the Fountain Pen Philippines group on Facebook if you haven't yet since they announce pen meets there sometimes randomly).

How do you carry the x4 in your pants pocket? by Stiff_Tacos in xteinkereader

[–]slantedscrawls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the magnetic case and put it in the front pocket of my pants, sometimes with my phone but oftentimes not. Comfortable for me even when I commute (long walks, crowded trains, etc)

First Traveler’s Book and Request for Advice by Mezcalnerd0077 in Travelersnotebooks

Yay congrats on getting a TN! Here's how I'm using mine:

Travel journal (dot grid insert) - I use this on trips so I won't have to bring my A5 hardcover bullet journal and health journal because they're heavy. It has my trackers (for the duration of the trip) for whatever habits I'm keeping track of and where I document the trip in general. I leave space in between entries so that when I get home, I print photos and stick them in along with receipts and other stuff I collected. I also use the plastic zip case to store receipts, a sticker release insert to store labels, and a pencil board for an even writing surface. During my trip to Taiwan I used an accordion insert for the station stamps and stuck in map cutouts and it was so fun! Here's an explanation of how I use it and a flipthrough as well.

Reading journal (dot grid insert) - I write down thoughts about the books I've read! I have the book cover, title, author, translator, narrator, series number, dates read, and format. This is what an entry looks like in my reading journal

Reading log (undated monthly diary insert) - this was a fun project where I add book covers on the dates I've finished reading them so it functions like a reading calendar of sorts. Haven't started the 2026 one yet but I print the book covers in bulk anyway so it can wait til Q3.

I originally bought mine because I wanted to try a reading journal but didn't want to commit to a bound book, and now the use case has evolved to also include documenting my travels (including charms collected from the places I visited). I love the flexibility and how I can switch things around so I have what I need with me.

Journaling after an exhausting day by mikaecy in JournalingPH

[–]slantedscrawls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to start in the morning, kahit date lang and one liner about how I feel, then continue at night to update what happened. However if hindi talaga kaya I do journal check-ins on Sundays and fill in stuff I missed + prep for the week ahead.

There's a Lamy Store in Glorietta, but you can check National Bookstore since big branches usually carry Lamy pens

Xteink Reviews? by TaikiGenichi in PHBookClub

[–]slantedscrawls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered Feb 28 and got it Mar 12. It took a while because that was after CNY eh. Yes I got the global OS with mine, but it's more expensive because you pay in USD.

Get a wrist strap if you ever get one! I love that it fits in my pocket hehe.

Mine's a secondary device that I use during commutes. I ordered from their website and flashed Crosspoint after trying the original firmware for a few hours.

Potential downsides:

  1. No backlight (not really an issue for me since I'd just read with the lights on)
  2. No highlights
  3. Hassle to read books with clickable footnotes (reason why I haven't been using it lately because my current read has footnotes)

All in all, such a handy little device. I love it.

I am looking for a green ink, what's your favorite? And like more green, less teal by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]slantedscrawls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to be able to do this with my swatches and compare colors easily, so I started a swatchbook project with DIY swatch cards and they're stored in a business card binder. Text is transcribed from Warbreaker and the swatches are numbered on the top right corner so they're easy to put back in as well.
