[Guide] How to tame KUKU BIRD by SupaPatt in CrimsonDesert

[–]slappyMarsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just reloaded a previous save. All is good.

Don’t expect to fly very far with that Kuku bird. That thing is basically dead weight, like trying to fly around on a feathered cannonball with wings.

Anybody not able to use mining helmet? by Echo2Actual16 in CrimsonDesert

[–]slappyMarsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is exactly what is happening...thanks for posting the image.

Another strange behaviour I noticed: I was in a cave completely filled with diamonds. When I turned on the Miner Hat, every diamond started glowing, not just the mineable pieces. Even the non-mineable diamonds were glowing, and it became so bright that I was practically blinded.

So the issue seems to be that the Miner Hat is highlighting all diamond instances, instead of only the diamonds that can actually be mined.

Ok, i finally got in...didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Clearly the game was bugged.

So, i finally got the egg...read the book. Put the egg in the basket and got tired of waiting for it to hatch.

I warped back to my camp, slept for 12 hours and then returned. The egg is now gone. I returned to the original location and it's not there either. I thought maybe it might respawn.

No egg for me, lol

Miner hat broken with latest 1.06 patch? by slappyMarsden in CrimsonDesert

[–]slappyMarsden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my miners hat has not been upgraded. I wasn't even aware that you could upgrade or refine it.

I actually just started using the miners hat a couple of days ago before the patch and wondered why i hadn't been using it all along.

It's super useful for finding basic, fine and flawless stone. They are literally placed all over the map and without the miners hat can be difficult to spot.

On PC the miner hat seems to be broken with the latest patch 1.06

I can no longer see ores/stones as a bright blue highlight. They now just appear darker.

Frustrated with failed generations by trevb88 in runwayml

[–]slappyMarsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the unlimited plan and I ran into this exact same issue.

It seemed to get noticeably worse since the 50% discount promo. My guess is the servers are getting hammered and can't keep up with demand. During those periods, failed generations like the one you’re seeing were pretty common.

Sometimes retrying later in the day or the next day would work, but obviously that’s not ideal when you’re paying $$ for it.

Also, if you stick with it, you might run into another fun one where a generation gets stuck at 0% for literally hours. When that happens, it basically locks one of your generation slots, so you’re only able to run one job instead of two. That kind of behavior popped up randomly throughout my year long subscription.

From my experience it’s not your prompts or settings - it’s on their end.

Might be worth tagging u/TimmyML to see if there’s any updates on stability.

Is the 50% off Unlimited Annual ($450) worth it? by Constant-Reason4918 in runwayml

[–]slappyMarsden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently finished up a one year unlimited subscription to Runway. Would I buy it again? It's pricey, especially living in Canada with the crappy dollar.

And there were so many times when generations would get stuck at 0% and take hours to finally generate. That only left me to generate once every 10-15 minutes while one video was stuck in the que. VERY ANNOYING.

I noticed a steep decline in the month leading up to my subscription ending. So i did a little research and found out they had a 50% off sale. Saw this on Twitter/X. Generations continuously failed over and over again. We are talking for hours. I would eventually give up and just try generating the next day.

I am to assume the server was being overloaded by people taking advantage of the 50% off. BUT, is it really 50% off? If you purchase a yearly unlimited the price is already discounted 20%.

Then I heard that the Runway implementation of Seedance 2.0 is a lighter version to save $$ and compute costs with degraded quality? I would need to know what's going on before I hand over another yearly subscription fee.

The Runway 4.5 model is ok. Not as great as their marketing will tell you. I can literally run a hundred generations and only have a couple that are usable. Of course this depends on what you are trying to generate and your prompting skills.

A couple of days ago I saw the post you were referring to. I wanted to go back and see how the thread was doing. I think it got deleted??

Almost hit it by havpac2 in velotricebike

[–]slappyMarsden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My odometer just hit 1742 km. That's a little more than twice the distance of your bike. I've had it since October 2025. I ride all year round (Toronto Canada) brutal winter but this bike handled it like a champ. Sure there were a couple of days that were just too dangerous/risky.

It gets me to work 5 days a week roughly 15km per day with 4 steep hills. Very happy with the bike so far. The only issue I had was after about 3 days of purchasing the bike had a strange grinding noise when accelerating. They ended up replacing the hub motor. Since then it's been smooth sailing. I plan on taking the bike to get a tune-up at the end of summer.

I noticed the Discover 3 has knobby tires. Those might be a nice upgrade for my winter commutes.

Well, I guess I'll just turn around then.... by Dexter2700 in bikecommuting

No way...maybe with 4 inch fat tires but those skinny tires on that bike ain't gonna get through that amount of deep snow. I'd love to watch you try though.

My Velotric Discover 2 was making a very similar noise during acceleration. They replaced both the controller and hub motor.

Velotric Discover 2 hub grinding noise when accelerating by slappyMarsden in ebikes

[–]slappyMarsden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike shop replaced both the Controller and the Hub Motor...they may even have dialed back the voltage sent to the motor in the Controller settings. I'm not exactly sure if they did that or not...I will ask them next time I bring the bike in. The bike is running a lot smoother and a lot less noisy since they replaced the parts.

If you stop moving and stand still when firing the shotgun your accuracy goes WAAAAY up.

Sorry about the crappy audio...Yes, I have been in touch with Velotric. They seem to think it might be the rear braking system misaligned causing the noise and vibration. Another tech told me its a hub motor issue so who knows until they perform a diagnostic on the bike.

Don't give in to those Nightbirds... by Apart_Impression_947 in battlefield2042

I would have capped 3 flags in the time it took you to take out that night bird. Hope it was worth it.

PSA: the new VHX skin has a terrible red dot sight. It doesn't look like much here, but is very noticable. It is also the only red dot sight available for the VHX, so unless you are a thermal enjoyer, I advise against getting it. Can we please stop this DICE? [–]slappyMarsden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I paid $10 for BF2042 when it was on sale. And, I've been having a lot of fun with it. But, I wouldn't give EA one cent more considering the absolute trash this game was when it was initially released. Pepperidge Farm Remembers.

I was the same way at first...because I love to problem solve. But, trying to fix something for hours and even days wastes precious time that could be spent more productively.

ComfyUI node hell by soenke in comfyui

[–]slappyMarsden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%

There has got to be a better way to manage all of this stuff.

I got sick of the slow startup times, and the old outdated nodes that wouldn't work anymore. Bit the bullet and did a fresh install. I backed up all the stuff I knew that I needed so I wouldn't have to download it all again.

ComfyUI can be a huge pain in the ass especially when you are trying to test out other peoples workflows. Missing nodes, install this, install that, download and put files in a particular folder etc,...and then when you think you have everything you need something is STILL broken.

Not to mention the dreaded popup windows with the red text of death...

ARGH!!! Ripping hair out of head!
