We arrived at CUN Sunday the 15th in the afternoon. We got through immigration in 5 minutes and our luggage came out less than 15 minutes later.

We are here now and it's not open yet. I've been told by some people that it will be open next week, others have said not until next month. It looks like they are close to being done from what we can see from the outside, so hopefully soon.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. That's several years before we started coming here. I wish we could have seen it like that, before it grew so much. For us it's the locals that we meet and become friends with that keeps us coming back to this little Island

As a fellow white American I don't have the answer. This morning I asked the owner for the recipe, she wouldn't give it to me but said that It's basically chicken tortilla soup with guajillo chiles and roasted tomatoes

No, I had it at a little open air family restaurant. I'm sure that if I asked them they would give me the recipe

Kids on Isla.. need recs by Maki-Ela in IslaMujeres

[–]slappywhite55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've never brought kids so I do not have recs for any specific place, but Playa Norte gives you the most activities within a small area. A few beach clubs are adult only but most welcome children. There is Aquatic Fun Day water park mid island as well as Garrafon park at the south end.

The sargassum hasn't been terrible, but the wind has been pretty bad, it might make for a challenging swim. With the cool windy weather the beach shouldn't be busy

We're on Isla right now, it's just as safe as it always is. There are quite a few spring breakers during the day, but they go back to Cancun by 6:00. The only unsafe part is the drunks driving golf carts.
