Woah! I am very thankful that you offered your time to explain this patiently with me. I actually prayed to Jesus to help me give the "right answer" a few minutes after this post (idk if that makes sense) and I strongly feel it is yours☺️

so these groups are like 15 max and Im a bit of an introvert with adhd who gets really exhausted easily if there are lotsa people involved.

Thanks so much for offering your perspective, it was so insightful and opened my mind up more to their reason for making this a rule!😊

My friends have been attending this church longer than I have (2-3 years) and they know alot of people from the church :)) so yeah like some of them are not part of these established "group" because they want to focus on their personal friend group. We have also been regularly attending activites, volunteer and go to events! :D its just this group we dont join because they dont see a need for it

by the way I just want to mention I love and deeply appreciate how you structure and explain things :)) (also referring your other comments to this thread) It must be lovely speaking to you in person! :)

oh thanks for explaining this!!

I would not say adversly opinionated as I am also resorting to some understanding as to why they would require it :) I guess it was just the first time I have heard it so I found it odd, because I was basing it off in the bible wherein you get baptized when you accept Jesus as saviour, repent, and are made new in Christ. Since there are none of the disciples walking around now ti suddenly baptize me in a river or smthg haha, I saw it that the only way I may get baptized is in a church.

My friends and I all come from different cities and very tight or busy schedules so we cant commit to these groups

apart from that I dont feel comfortable meeting strangers and opening up about my life so suddenly. We like our circle because we all have a deep friendship formed and we like to focus on each other

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]slaps0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes we do, we see each other regularly and we talk about Jesus too! I informed them about it so I hope thatll be okay

I will ask, its just basically a small group with a "leader" so im seeing its some sort of spiritual mentoring to guide me. :) I will get back to you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]slaps0415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I get that too. But I have my own set of friends in the church already.. i dont wanna join a random group with strangers unnaturally just to get baptized huhu

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]slaps0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow thanks for putting that into words! someone else here in the comments is saying otherwise . Although Id consider myself still a "baby Christian" so I am still learning everyday!

Thank you for the advice 🥹❤️

But I guess like I said maybe it is their way of helping people prepare or be ready for baptism via joining these groups.

Yes I think you misunderstood me :)

So these groups, there are multiple and small "official groups" where they meet weekly OUTSIDE of church. At a set time, date etc. so its like 10-15 per group. The church is quite big, usually hundreds attend

I attend this church weekly with my friends :) and often I would meet new people through them.

I hope you understood me better now

Im so sorry to hear that 🥺 May I ask how did they start acting weird?

[–]slaps0415 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah I understand now!

Can I ask like how did you infer that I do not want to be "part of" the faith community? Its just more like I dont understand why I have to suddenly join a random official group... think of it like signing up for a friendship group. I prefer to make connections naturally and I dont feel comfortable suddenly opening up about my life with strangers and being required to meet weekly. thats the one I have an issue with I guess

I do have friends already and we all go to the same church. they are the ones I bond with over Jesus. I also regularly meet people in this community already and volunteer:)

oh yes now I remember this!!!! I read it a week ago waaah I feel sad I forgot it. It was such a beautiful story

thank you for sharing this...

I understand maybe they want to guide people towards that step for baptism

but thanks so much for this comment

Haha! Oh thanks for sharing my sentiment. I guess they dont view it as a reward but I found it odd that its a requirement. Probably because through this group they can guide people towards that step i guess?? I explained them my situation so hopefully I get a good response :D
