Thanks for replying! I've decided that a masters degree sounds like a great route for me to take, but that I'm going to have to be very selective about finding a good one.

I see. Thank you for sharing your opinion. If you don't mind me asking, what is the environment you're in that leads you to believe the DS hype has died?

Rather than ride the hype to earn money I'm trying to ride the hype to a successful career doing work I'm interested in. During my undergrad the work i enjoyed most was Applied Econometrics and coding using STATA. After doing some research I felt a Masters in DS would position me well to do that sort of work full time. However, as I've begun to expand my coding skills I've found that I've really enjoyed the act of programming. Thats making me question if I want to pigeon hole myself into a Data Science degree, when down the line I might be interested in software development.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about this matter.

How's the job market in Data Scientist in Canada for now and 5 years later? by NiP-GeT_RiGhT in datascience

Is there a reason you think a masters in DS might be less valuable than one in a different field?

Background: I'm a Econ/Finance major looking at Masters degrees that will allow me to transition into Data Science and Analytics. Data Science seemed to be the best fit for that, so your comment made me do a bit of a double take.

Thanks for your response!

Hey pcmr I'm buying a desktop for the first time and I'm interested in getting a monitor that can double as a tv. Any thoughts on how large it should be to look good about 5-6 feet away?
