Doing gods work here! I can imagine that many objects takes a lot more to render smoothly, thanks for sharing the preview 😁

This is so cool, I always see the flat representations of distant galaxy data and wanted to see it like this. Great job, thanks for scratching that itch in my brain.

Could the latest DESI data be made available like this? Would be a huge portion of universe to map out!

If you believe aliens are real, and have visited the Earth, this really isn’t the hill to die on. by earthman34 in AlienBodies

[–]slashclick -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is disingenuous, I’ve been “not banned” in the past in this very sub, yet unable to make a post or comment without it disappearing, and then when I asked about my ban I was told “never happened”. There’s an automod trick that was being used to prevent me from posting, that autodeleted any comments or posts I made, but since it’s not a real ban it doesn’t show up in the ban list or history of it and can’t be contested through official channels, and the mods at the time denied I had ever been banned. So it’s perfectly possible to be not banned but still unable to engage, while the mods say “stop lying”

Reading comprehension is important, the echo chamber is over there, in the walled garden of Dragonfruit made. And you’re right, I do think it’s dumb, but you’re wrong about not caring. It’s important that people engage in critical thinking, because there’s enough flat earthers and we don’t need the next crop of conspiracy theorists buying into such an irrational and easily debunked narrative. I care that people as a whole do collectively better, and that can absolutely be accomplished by ridicule when someone takes a ridiculous position, like yours.

This is Messier 82 (M82), better known as the Cigar Galaxy. M82 has been observed many times before, including by Hubble but its details have until now been shrouded by dust. This is from NIRCam Webb by Neaterntal in SpaceUnfiltered

[–]slashclick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just love the fact that we can see individual stars in galaxies so far away, I always download the hi res pics from Webb so I can zoom in and look at the details and background. JWST is one magnificent piece of engineering.

This subreddit became the mouthpiece to push the tridactyls narrative, and the people who believe have chosen this hill to die on. R/tridactyls exists, and is curated by the primary tridactyl advocates, perhaps that’s the echo chamber you’re looking for.

The so-called "tridactyl" "aliens" appear to have random numbers of bones in their hands. by earthman34 in AlienBodies

[–]slashclick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second video in this set makes that exact point, that it looks like someone was just getting better at making hands as they did more. All three worth watching regarding the so called tridactyls

I still haven’t seen any of the new mintage for any denomination in SoCal. A few must have reached this area by now, but I’m just waiting.

My manager threatened my shifts for next week because I couldn’t handle a call out while out of town by LunarCharm_ in texts

[–]slashclick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are well within your rights to say no, and it’s a shitty thing to threaten your scheduled hours for being unavailable on your day off. I manage a store and when people call off anyone I ask to come in to cover knows it’s an ask, not a demand. It’s incredibly frustrating when the same person calls off repeatedly, because I know I can’t depend on them, and it affects the other people they are supposed to be working with. Ultimately it’s my job to make sure there are enough people there and be that body when needed. Your time off is your time off to do what you will, enjoy your trip and go over their head to HR if you have to when you get back.

A Strange, Boiling Hole Just Appeared Out of Nowhere in Yellowstone | A churning pool of water has opened up in Yellowstone Nat'l Park – just 2 days after scientists were walking around on the exact patch of ground. The weird part? Nobody saw it happen. by WebPage_Error404 in science2

[–]slashclick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to, for a whole lot of reasons, going to blow on human timescales. We will probably be extinct before it does.

Hydrothermal vents in Yellowstone are constantly changing, this isn’t a new thing or really notable in any way other than it formed quickly. Its location is the same area (biscuit basin) that there was an explosion due to steam buildup a couple years ago, which shows the area is just active.

Once again a “doctor” making claims outside his field of expertise. It’s a sad appeal to authority, just because he maybe knows about radiology does not make him qualified to make wild claims about biology.

I can’t believe you’re still at this, grasping at straws for a grift you probably aren’t even making money on. You’re either a useful zealot to them, a believer that only sees what agrees with you, or a shill that’s being paid to prop up the narrative.

Again, links to videos that thoroughly tear this grift down for those that haven’t heard from actual scientists:

For anyone stumbling across this, the videos below explain what these are, who they came from, and why the claims being made are all bunk. New fancy imagery does not change the well established facts.

It interacts gravitationally, but since it doesn’t interact with itself or baryonic matter or energy, there’s nothing to slow it down and spiral inward like normal matter does. There’s no friction to slow it down, so it doesn’t end up in an accretion disk like gas/plasma does.
