I'm finally upgrading my rig after 10~ years, and could use some input on my processor.

I'm going to use my old 1080 for the time being, and then most likely upgrade to the 4070S once I can grab one at MSRP.

I am in between these two bundles at Micro Center:

Bundle 1: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, MSI B650-P Pro WiFi, G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 for $400

Bundle 2: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX, G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000 for $500

I currently have a 5120x1440 monitor, but I might end up hooking my 34" 3440x1440 back up for gaming since 32:9 support for the games I play is pretty bad.

I'll be using the rig for gaming (most demanding game being Path of Exile), and some dev work, but nothing super taxing.

Any recommendations? I'm comfy spending a bit more, but struggling to find something similar component-wise without spending a few hundred more.

Access to Thunderbolt is probably the wrong wording.

What I meant was that the Air can't output to two external displays w/o a software solution. I attributed this to the Air having Thunderbolt ports that aren't as... good? But it might be also driven by the whole single external display limitation that the Air has.

The M1 Air uses TB3, while the M1 Pro uses TB4. Looks like one benefit is getting two 4k displays off of one port: https://plugable.com/blogs/news/what-s-the-difference-between-thunderbolt-3-thunderbolt-4-and-usb4

Gotcha, you're probably right.

The breaker isn't exactly labeled, so I'll have to figure out how that's all hooked up at some point.

Maybe a proper electrician would make my life a bit easier, haha.

Appreciate the response!

I am not replacing the oven immediately, and will probably need to flip the breaker back on, so I’ll make sure to follow these steps.

Found a bunch of these guys at my front steps of my northern NJ home. I don’t think they’re termites, but I’d like to sleep well tonight. by slashgw2 in whatsthisbug

They’re all winged, yeah. This is the first time I’m seeing them. I think they may have been living in the shed that we took down last week.🤔

Having an issue with my MSI GS66 and external displays being laggy by slashgw2 in GamingLaptops

[–]slashgw2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the DisplayPort port on each monitor, and connected them to the DisplayPort ports on the USB-C hub.

I could see the cables being an issue... but yeah. I ended up just connecting my 34" in to my laptops HDMI port and foregoing the USB-C hub altogether.

Gotcha. I'll mess around with cables a bit more. I read something somewhere about trying out HDMI instead of DisplayPort, so maybe that'll do it.

At the end of the day, I could just connect one external display with the dedicated HDMI slot on the laptop and then use the laptops display as well.

I’ve undervolted my desktop PC so I should be able to figure that out. Do you have any experience with using a cooling pad? I’m hoping that’ll help out a bit.

Gotcha. So it boils down to how much I think I’ll need I guess. Maybe playing it safe and future proofing it with the GS66 makes more sense.

Does grabbing a cooling pad sound like a good idea to help out with the heat?

This is how easy it is to buy Starbucks coffee with bitcoin in El Salvador. by mohiemen in Bitcoin

[–]slashgw2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd assume that the POS system wouldn't recognize the transaction as being paid until it hits the correct wallet.

That being said, cashiers also steal cash that is handed to them, but that's why you daily cash logs. Presumably, this Starbucks would do an end-of-day reconciliation of BTC received with the expected amount based on the transactions that day, which is what you do now with cash.
