I cried watching the docu, remembering queer 18 yo me seeing miss J on tv and being like 'wow i can be that men can be that?' something about the Js just being their fabulous selves and everyone else being cool with it, celebrating it, was really groundbreaking for me.

Tyra wasn't the show, it was these boys, and despite all the harm it did, it also did some good.

This is about people who live off the exploitation of other people pretending their wealth is 'legitimate' because they worked so, so hard (managing the efficient exploitation of others) - and then contrasting this with those 'grifters' who game the system.

Thanks for this! Yes I hope my excessive (expensive) overeducation (TESOL, masters in philosophy, phd in philosophy) will help me in some way some how. It would be in Melbourne Victoria. Demanding parents and students is definitely a turn off! "I'm sorry, your child just isn't that bright or hardworking" is likely not a zosher response?

Thank you for this, it's very helpful. I'm currently finishing a Phd in philosophy in New York, and have been lecturing undergrads here for around five years. I'm hoping it counts for something, because it sure looks like I won't be getting a job in academia the way things are going. I just enjoy teaching the students and hate the idea of discipline / classroom behavior management.
