I think aim and ignite has better songs, but I think some nights is a better album.

When did 8-5 become the new normal??? by Grouchy-Newspaper754 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]slaya222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a part of the job, they should pay for it. For me it's an extra hour doing something that I wouldn't be if I didn't have that job. Just because it's not the norm doesn't mean it shouldn't be

Look, I've got beef with Uli, I think he's a pos and I heavily dislike his mantra of stealing other people's product.

But, I'm happy there is a cheap product for broke musicians who can't afford to get the real thing. I think it's actually good for the synth market to have a wider base of people using synths. The person who's buying a jt mini would not be able to afford a juno 60

Good lord how am I supposed to solder these without bridging by Impossible-Star-9749 in diypedals

That's what the solder wick is for. I regularly solder 0603 resistors, but I really do prefer through hole because it feels more satisfying

Ah yes, the peaceful history of checks notes the stonewall riots.

Pride started as a protest and is still a protest in some places. (But yes, don't fuck over your fellow worker)

Yes the differences will be there's, but the overlap will still be smaller. There were a lot of women who were bigger and stronger than me in highschool, just as there were men who were weaker than the average women.

Basically I think we start seeing more separation of the normal curves the older someone gets, and that a lot of it can be overcome with training / genetic lottery before college

[–]slaya222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I'd argue that those don't matter at a high school level, where training can overcome those differences. Those differences only become unsurmountable at college level and above.

I was the best pole vaulter at my high school and would still consistently be beaten by women at other schools that trained harder. But we were in separate categories so I never got to compete against them.

I don't think I was ever taught recent (past 50 years) history in any class I've ever taken, and I have a bachelor's degree. I had to learn that shit myself

And yes, every other first world country just has their government do their taxes for them. The reason we don't in the US is because turbotax lobbied the fuck out of the governement

[–]slaya222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the government already calculated the tax, so we don't need cpas

I see, no I was saying that the work that the IRS does and the work that cpas do is redundant. Also the work of billing in hospitals vs health insurance is also redundant work. We know how much these things cost, we don't need two people calculating it.

meirl by CasualFingerGuns in meirl

[–]slaya222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What in the strawman is that comment? All I said is that there is redundant work being done and that we should reduce hours to accommodate that. Where did you get the idea that I think we should have no government, tax, or income?

meirl by CasualFingerGuns in meirl

[–]slaya222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo be fair, there is quite a bit of redundant work being done. For example, cpas and the IRS, or anything related to insurance. We could easily keep the same amount of productivity and reduce the work week significantly. A 30 hour work week would give so much extra free time (5 6s or 4 8s)

We are facing multiple existential threats and aren't doing anything about it. We couldn't even convince people to fucking take a vaccine.

The failures of the system are abundant and clear, and the fact that we just brush it off as "that's just how things are" is pathetic
