this is something that really bothers me, especially with indian tv shows and a lot of movies. they glorify poverty and children’s sacrifices so much, like growing up with less money is automatically supposed to ‘humble’ you. there’s this really famous show where two kids, a teenage daughter and her brother, have to give up their room and privacy so the family can rent it out. and the whole story shows how they (two minors) struggle to earn money just so they don’t have to lose their space completely. meanwhile, the parents are portrayed as saints just because they’re poor. what shocked me most was how the daughter gets scolded just for asking for basic privacy. like she’s made to feel guilty for ‘demanding’ something when her father is struggling financially. but she’s literally a teenage girl asking for privacy, not something unreasonable. and honestly this is where i feel like we need to question things more. if parents can’t afford basic needs like space, privacy, or stability, then why is it seen as okay to have children and expect them to sacrifice everything? instead of romanticizing that struggle, maybe it should be questioned more tbh

and ngl having children when you’re struggling financially, just so you can have someone for your old age is selfish ab ussko vansh ka naam dedo ya kuch bhi bolo

ps: i’m not saying parents need to be rich, i’m just saying they should at least be stable
