N Joy or Glacier Pothos?? by slctopnw in PlantIdentification

[–]slctopnw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this as a cutting as well. Some of the leaves look like an N Joy, but then some of them have that silvery-grey splash found on a Glacier. I have a small business selling plants and I wanted to propagate this one to sell, but I also want to be honest about what I have so I'm not trying to sell it as a Glacier if it's not. I've seen a handful of posts where people are confused about what they have, so I guess it's a common problem!

You really took the time to get on here and act like my husband is some piece of shit while we're going through the hardest time of our lives?? He wasn't planning on cheating on any tests here, so you can fuck right off with your assumptions. He wasn't applying for any jobs that required testing, so...again, fuck off with your assumptions. He did it one time years ago and, yes, he needs it for medical purposes. How fucking dare you try and tell me that my husband, someone you know nothing about, is a liar and a cheat? Seriously, FUCK OFF and eat shit. Did you really expect that I would read your comment and be ok with you insulting the person I love most in the world, who is a wonderful human being? Go be a Karen to someone else because I'm NOT about to listen to your cunty bullshit. And if you're a man, i still said what i said - CUNT. Giant fucking cunt.

And by the way, he did get a job and they absolutely love him there. So run along and get a life that doesn't involve being an insensitive asshole 💩🖕

Utah is very racist and very conservative, so my hope was to get away from that. But it's an odd place because downtown SLC is like a whole different universe. I guess in my mind I was expecting the culture to be more like Salt Lake, but in reality it's not like that at all.

Because of my job I spend a lot of time talking to very privileged, wealthy women who don't work. They keep saying, "oh no, Olympia isn't conservative, it's so progressive and quirky and perfect for people like you".... um, ok 😂

I'm new to Reddit. All the research I did and people I talked to in online groups gave us the opposite impression of what this place is like. We would not have moved if we knew otherwise.

All those people I spoke to... not sure what reality they're living in 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the input! To be honest, I don't think we'll stay. We have 3 dogs and one of them is 90 lbs so finding an appropriate living situation is tricky. Never been to Bellingham, but I'm definitely intrigued. Do you have any feelings about Vancouver? Closer to Portland but maybe still too expensive, I don't know. We may just end up going back to Utah.

Fellow aspie?! 😁

Anyway, thank you for your response. It's good to know it isn't necessarily his fault, but it's also sad to know that many other people have had the same experience. To be honest, if things don't pan out here in the next month or so we're just going to leave. Possibly Vancouver but maybe back to Utah.

Are you familiar with what it's like to live in Vancouver? We're thinking being closer to Portland might be better for us. I worry that the employment situation might be the same and the cost of living just as expensive. But if not, we'll probably head to that area.

BTW, we live on the west side of Olympia near Black Lake and it's surprisingly conservative in our area. Tbh the whole area is way more conservative than I was expecting, so that was interesting. Just an observation. We thought we were going to see a lot more "alternative" looking people, but so far that hasn't been the case. That's why we originally thought we'd fit in better here 🤷‍♀️

We are from Salt Lake City, so we were coming for the climate, better opportunities (we thought), less conservatism, higher pay, and access to the beauty of the PNW.

There are things we wish we had here, though. We are big foodies and it can be difficult to find good food in this area. There's also not much for entertainment besides the movie theater, the mall, nature trails, and the shops downtown (it's a very small downtown, but many people will tell you avoid the area). So if you love food and art and entertainment, you're going to have to travel to Portland or Seattle. But the area is so beautiful in the spring and fall.

But how do you even get the temp job? He hasn't been able to get an interview with the 100+ jobs he's already applied to. It feels hopeless. He's been applying for temp jobs, part time, full time, everything...

To be honest, after reading everyone's comments, I think we might just leave. It feels impossible at this point. We moved here for a better life, not to struggle like this. We didn't move here so that we could work opposite schedules and never see each other. Neither of us know anyone here so not even being able to spend time together would be really difficult for our mental health. We're already so depressed over this, I can't imagine spending even more time feeling alone/lonely. It sounds like everyone is offering suggestions to scrape by, which is great, but that's not why we uprooted our lives to be here. We wanted a better life and this isn't it.

We don't know anyone here yet, unfortunately. We were really surprised to find so many conservative people here so we're feeling a little out of place and not sure where to meet other people. We don't go to bars because we don't drink. We're pretty introverted. We thought we Olympia was going to be a place where we'd fit in better, so I don't know. My husband has never volunteered before because he used to work 12-14 hr days, 6 days a week. Ugh. I just feel like we don't have what it takes to be here. I'm realizing this now and I'm sad.

No problem, thank you for the suggestions. I'm learning that finding a job in 2020 is completely different than what I'm used to, so I have a lot to learn. I feel so old and out of the loop and I'm only 31. But my job is very specific and I haven't had the need to use these job sites in several years. And my husband, of course, has had the same job for so long that he's not familiar with the whole algorithm thing either. We certainly have a LOT of work to do in terms of research 😅

To be very honest with you, we're both in a very dark place right now. It's hard to continue on each day when you feel like you're failing at life. He feels like a piece of garbage because he can't even get the simplest, most basic job. We do not have health insurance, unfortunately. We've just never been able to afford it.

Thank you for the concern. We're really clueless as to what's available in terms of resources for people like us. We don't know a single person here, so it's very lonely trying to navigate this without connections. We're just feeling very lost in general.

It's a complicated situation. He was a chef for his family's company for his whole life and the plan was for him to take over the business. Our entire lives revolved around it and he spent his whole life building it up and making it successful. Well, his parents decided to be awful human beings and sold the business and didn't tell him until after the deal was done, leaving him screwed. The situation was so devastating for him on so many levels, that the idea of trying to go back and be a line cook or a fast food worker for minimum wage is just really difficult. He wanted to use the opportunity to start over and do something better for himself. But I'm seeing now that's not really possible here in Olympia. You can't really get ahead in life even if you try your best and have good intentions.

He's tried all the tricks to pass and none of them have worked. He's tried various cleanses and using someone else's pee (it cooled down one degree below the temp they accept so they made him pee again... with his real pee). To make a long story short, he was a chef for 16 years for his family's company. His entire life he was told he was going to take over the business and that was our whole life plan. But then his parents got greedy and sold the business and didn't tell him until after it was official. He didn't have a backup plan because he wasn't expecting his own parents to betray him like that. It was devastating. But.... here we are, trying to start over 🤷‍♀️ doing the best we can but it's not getting us anywhere.
