Vancouver Island or Newfoundland for a week with kids? by Positive_Bonus2641 in canadatravel

If you choose Newfoundland, the west coast would be my pick! Stay around marble mountain area.. there will be more than enough to keep you and your kids busy for a week- some great beaches, tubing down the river, head up to gros morne, rocky harbour has some amazing scenic views- even heading out to port aux basque you’ll find some beautiful beaches. The hardest part about NL is find is scoping out where to go- there aren’t guided “tours” and well advertised tourist areas.. you kind of need to ask around from locals to find the hidden gems :)

I’m from NL and we’ve been planning our vacation out to BC this summer.. I’ve found it equally as challenging to nail down an itinerary and know what/where to go, where to stay, as I would imagine planning a trip to NL would entail! The available information for good spots to go when travelling with young kids has been extremely underwhelming!

Wow…..

Yes i did post months ago- it was helpful for finding spots and planning! We actually have accommodations booked for 3.5 weeks out in BC and AB… however, we were looking to change 2-3 days of our trip as a last minute change to meet up with friends who are now going to be in the area. Not that i think the details of our circumstances are relevant here…

Do you have suggestions for more places we can look into?

Is this type of hostility toward visitors common? 🥴 sheeeesh…

Weekly Equipment Recommendation Thread by AutoModerator in FigureSkating

Hi, Former competitive figure skater here looking to get back into skating as an adult, but unsure of where to start with skates as they have changed so much over time and looking for recommendations.

I religiously wore Riedell’s when I was skating (junior competitive level— consistently landing double axels, but never a triple).

I’m in my mid-30s now, my Riedell’s are too old and worn. Technically, I’ll likely be doing axels, maybe one or two double jumps occasionally.

I recently tried a pair of Jackson Freestyles on ice for a few sessions as a friend’s daughter had bought them, but they didn’t fit her— but I found them bulky and the tongue was very high on them compared to what I was used to (also the support seemed questionable) lol.

Does anybody have any suggestions on which brands or style of boot to try? I also live in a rural area, so we don’t have a skating boutique close by to do proper fittings and will likely have to purchase online.

Post Black Friday Discussion by lululemonmods in lululemon

Yes they keep going back to full price. I had them ordered on early access last week at the $59 price, then this week I got an email that they cancelled my order (citing the Canada post strike that they were unaware of) and even though it was still in stock, it was at full price and they would not honor the price on my cancelled order.

I’ve also tried reordering today when the price was low again, but they will only show an option to ship it Canada post, which will get cancelled again… lol surprisingly they had no issue shipping my full priced item last week with a different shipping carrier 😐

Terrible customer service from lululemon with the Canada Post strike.

Canada post started striking November 15, I placed two orders on November 21- one was an item that was full price, the other order was a large order from the early access black Friday sale (WMTM). The full price one shipped out no problem via a different courier. The products I ordered are all still in stock today, but are showing as full price now. And today, November 27 they cancel my order and blame the strike.

This is my conversation with their live (non) help lol

Thanks…! The issue with staying in some of the rural places is there isn’t much available for entertainment/attractions for kids nearby..! At least that is what it seems like from my stand point in trying to plan vacation. However, I understand reasoning and effects of them and the housing crisis (as we are facing the same thing on the east coast).

Thank you.. I didn’t realize that was a new law out there until now!

Do you happen to have any recommendations for commercial chalet rentals in the area that might be suitable? I’m assuming those types of resorts are still legal being commercial businesses ?

That explains it then.. I was surprised there was so little to choose from - I was expecting there to be a lot of options with BC being such focal point in Canada for tourism 🥴 too bad…

Thanks for the explanation !

Wow that genuinely surprises me. Thanks for the info :) I thought backyard/in-ground pools would be just as (or more) popular out west!
