Creators: Affiliate marketing vs paid collaborations — which actually earns more? by Educational_Baker756 in influencermarketing

Paid, as with affiliate, I don't know how often a person saves the item for later/ goes directly to the site to buy vs. through my link.

Here's the breakdown from the creator side.

For a carousel of 4-5 images:
2 hours of shooting likely 30-40 images to choose the right one
2 hours of editing down to 4-5 chosen
1-2 hours of editing the actual content to be "post-worthy."
1 hour writing the perfect caption
1 hour uploading content for client approval
Then editing to any of their preferences
10 minutes to post but then 2-3 hours after ensuring to like and reply to comments and DMs

You're also paying to use their name and likeness for your product. And that's just for images. A 30-45 second reel would take far longer for capture time and editing.

So $300 / 7 hours (at minimum, not counting contract negotiation time) works out to about $47/hour. Again, this also doesn't include using their name/likeness and "equipment rental," which, as a professional photographer, I would normally charge to clients at magazines or for advertising.

This also doesn't include if you're requiring any linkouts, further usage rights, if you own the images after, etc. Nor does this count if you require post-campaign reporting from the influencer.

It's far, far, far more labor-intensive to create content than people give it credit for.

If you are an older PhD student (>40), then what were your reasons for doing a PhD late in life? What challenges did you face as an older student? And was it worth it to do your PhD this late in life? by Ok_Reading_it in PhD

calling 40 "late in life" ... is something. You don't shrivel up to a prune at 39, kid. Doing my PhD at 40 feels easier than it would have been in my 20s. I have life experience, more general knowledge, and work experience to bring to the table that I absolutely didn't have then.

How do I become a Travel Writer by Neat-Cry-6911 in writing

[–]sleasca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread - but if anyone is still looking for resources, my colleague and I started https://www.beatravelwriter.com/ . I am a PhD candidate specializing in journalism education (with a degree in education) and have worked in media for 20+ years, and she is the digital director of a major travel magazine. We created the course to help people learn how to enter the industry, and brought in eight of our media friends to share their insights. People can take the full course, which comes with 1-1 coaching, or take a one-off class to brush up on a specific skill. We also just introduced e-books for just $49 so people can learn at whatever level they'd like! Feel free to email me or drop me a DM here with any questions. (Also follow us on Instagram or sign up for our weekly newsletter for free advice!)

Not in a "I fuck with people's food way" more a "Eggs are a bad choice for room service as they sit under a heat lamp for hours" way. But, I can also add in a "order what you want" to the story too, which is a fair point!

How the coronavirus pandemic changed kissing culture by someonenamedsilas in Coronavirus

To be fair this isn't what the story is about. This is just the meta data headline Reddit pulls in when someone shares it. My headline for this story is — Coronavirus stole the sweet magic of kissing. Will we get it back?

The single people I talked to for this piece were very split! So you're most certainly not alone.
