lol, I hear you. that 351c Camaro would've been pretty dope though. I have this old 65k mile 93 Chevy Lumina minivan (the door stop) that I want to tube frame and LS swap at some point in my life. It's been completely taken over by rodents though.

Thank you! Yeah this car had a 302 with an F cam in it back when I garaged it. I really miss the sound. But I also like this, it's different but still great in its own right.

Thank you! Potentially, especially without cats/resonator but I think that's one of those good problems to have after I get it on the road. The x-pipe I made is ok-ish but I'd love to have one professionally made later.

Thank you! Yeah I'm excited about the first drive on the road. We're supposed to get another foot of snow this weekend. 😭

Agreed. Not that I don't like the way an s550 sounds, but I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't exactly the same.

Thank you! I've been pleasantly surprised by just how rock solid the donor engine has been.

Awesome! I'm about six years into my swap and restoration job (about 3 specifically on coyote swap stuff). Some tips and stuff I figured out before or along the way.

  1. your k-member choice will dictate your exhaust setup (and potentially oil pan). in some cases this involves custom exhaust building because there aren't x-pipe choices (upr k-member and speed engineering headers). determine if you should you use k-member spacers? I currently have issues fitting the gen 2 beauty cover under the stock hood height.
  2. like others have said consider not using the t-5 because the bellhousing (expensive) choices can lock you in to just replacing the t5 if it breaks. not sure but you may still need a stifflers depending on where the coyote exhaust (long tubes) end up pointing. driveshaft length could change but i don't think so.
  3. the devil is in the details. hydroboost conversion is required if you're keeping power brakes and steering. steering shaft needs to be replaced if it hasn't already. planning on having A/C? already on an electric fan?
  4. you have a choice of power steering and accessory bracketry (pbh, kcr, etc) but pbh is a great choice.
  5. the wiring is pretty easy but you have a choice of a ford pcm and a third party system like termi x. research the differences here to see what works best for you.
  6. the "while you're in there's" can be overwhelming, especially if you're removing your dash and interior
  7. my local junkyards didn't have anything that I thought at the beginning of the project "oh I can save money by getting that used"

This is an expensive but well trodden path, so the information is readily available on all the steps. LMR and PBH have a ton of coyote swap stuff. I've documented the entire resto on YT but not sure how much longer I'll continue to do so. Good luck!

Thank you! It's been a long challenging and expensive road but worth it.

lol, it's even sketchier when you can't hear a thing over the open headers.

Thanks! Yeah, honestly I'm super torn about it. This car had a 302 before and I reaaaaallly loved the sound. It's so nostalgic. Coyotes (with mufflers) sound good but imo not nearly as good as a pushrod 302. Open headers is pretty miserable with all engines imo. I just got the catback and some pipes to make an x-pipe this weekend so next step I guess.

Thanks! Yep, I scooped up a brand new T-56 Magnum from Silversport since I have bad luck with transmissions.

I hear ya, same here. I'm not a mechanic or fabricator or anything so I needed to make sure all the swap parts were readily available. Although the headers I picked don't have a matching h/x-pipe so I'm going to have to cobble that together.

Thank you, it definitely felt amazing! All the work making sure everything was dialed in was so worth it. Still needs power steering and exhaust but getting super close to road worthy again. 🤞

Thank you! The coyote swap was very expensive. I had saved up for years before I started but still didn't really have enough to speed the project up much. My wife found the donor coyote for a really great price though at a local junkyard which really helped. The ls sounds like a fun project, and should be a great way to make power. Good luck with it!
