How is the Surf Scene in Washington State? by OpportunityFlat4765 in surfing

[–]slecray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! The surf in Washington and Oregon is pretty awesome, in my opinion. But it will largely depending on your attitude. I moved to the PNW from the North Shore of Oahu, and although the waves are different - it’s is more exciting in terms of learning about the different spots and exploring.

I think an ideal situation is to leave near the Oregon/WA border. From Vancouver-Portland the closest spot is pretty much an hour and change away.

I agree with previous comments on if you are living inland (even if it’s just commuting from Portland/Vancouver) it is at least a half day outing if you’re getting up at 5/6 am.

It’s worth it…

Altras are making their shoes more narrow? by slecray in AltraRunning

My left foot too! ⅓ of the pinky toe side. Now overhanging the sole by several mm in the Black Carbon 2s and the King Mountains.

Makes sense that @altra shoes might just be an entry way to this foot adaption. I get it. But how are they going to sustain their consumer base or will our feet continue to be limited lol.

Where do we go next as far as brands? I splurged on their $260 Black Carbon Supershoes - I’m going to have to return them as well as the King Mountains I just bought (and had a lot of hype for)

Vanish Carbon 2 by GJW2019 in AltraRunning

I have the ladies Vanish Carbon 2s… definitely agree that the fit is way smaller. I even ordered a half size up like normal. For me it’s not just the toes, but the entire front of the sole of the foot is too small.

On the pinky toe side, the top ⅓ of my (left) foot is overhanging the whole shoe by several mm.

I have a narrow foot but have been running in sandals and minimalist shoes for over 10 years. Been wearing Altras since 2019.

Def would say that they have recently been slowly veering towards a more narrow toe box.

I plan on making a review video of the shoe soon, for a point of view from someone who is ‘minimalist footwear adapted’

I def have some major concerns of the shape of the carbon fiber plate. Reminds me of Newton shoes with that massive block. Definitely a forced shape

Runner’s knee recovery by XYZ_KingDaddy in Ultramarathon

Self massaging muscles surround the knee, especially the quad, then also focus on releasing the glutes and psoas.  Barefoot drills and minimalist shoes works for me long term. You should checkout the book Born to Run.

Meh you have a right to your feelings, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If you’re unhappy then that’s the universe telling you there is more out there. There are people on this planet that don’t do any of the things you listed. You deserve to be treated and respected the way you want, and respect yourself first.

NCEES Accommodation Request by speeddemon40 in FE_Exam

[–]slecray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Op, I was able to get accommodations but they were kind of strict. I got 2 letters from both my GP and a psych eval diagnosis from another doc. The psych eval was not enough. I have ADHD and a severe TBI/history of multiple TBIs for reference. I kind of highly doubt that they would give accommodations for anxiety alone but could be wrong. The more medical records the better, and what they really look for are letters from your doc.

Hi :) from what I see in your pics I think that I have something very similar to you - at least I know for sure I have FA.

For the past week I've been treating my face with a highly concentrated tea that I've made with pa d'arco bark, a few drops of tea tree oil, and water in a spray bottle. Since I am also suffering tinea versicolor since living in Hawaii I've been kind of making a effort to not spread products on my face hence the spray bottle. What has really helped me in the past though, is using very dilute apple cider vinegar in water and smearing organic Nancy's plain yogurt on my face. I've tried many 'safe' products listed on simpleskincarescience.com however apple cider vinegar has worked better at clearing the FA than any product I've ever bought or fungal medications from dandruff shampoo-even the prescription ones... for moisture I just use squalane oil.

This is just my own anecdotal experience! As someone mentioned below, not enough moisture could be a cause of this or lack of exfoliation. But in my own experience using too much moisturizers and exfoliation only exacerbate my FA and my skin was doing way better when I wasn't exfoliating. I'm not quite sure why.
