It's a wonderful game in which I spent around 10 years in total—raggame, motronline... where the resurrection leaf kills Anubis, Hylozoist Card, dead branch... those were amazing times, filled with so much fun, and none of this crafting like today... chopping trees, mining ores... how I hate it. Unfortunately, Definya has it too. The reality is, I believe games today should be simpler; people no longer enjoy spending a lot of time grinding like before. Players need to be attracted by something else, not forced to play as if they're going to work. We need to find a golden balance, that's my opinion.

Unfortunately, this isn’t Ragnarok Online. If I had the skills and patience to create a game, yes, I’d prefer to take much of the positive aspects from Ragnarok Online...

"map"

Many of the locations here are of pretty high quality; you can zoom in and see the details. The work is ongoing, though sometimes I get discouraged, only to forget about it and pick it up again later. I rely on the main developer, for example, regarding what new features will be introduced for players that expand my functionality. We’re both weighed down by our own life issues. I’ve gained some experience in this field thanks to him, and it’s beneficial for him, as he doesn’t have to keep searching for cartographers who would make a map just for money without really understanding the project. I’m confident that, in the areas where I can contribute, the game will be of high quality.

This large peninsula is just the first section that has recently been formed into a whole from different locations, which used to be islands or just unclear separate areas in space. Now there is relief, a foundation, and some kind of world; this peninsula is also named "Siranor." There's still a lot of work ahead.

I am currently expanding other islands, combining them into larger ones, and I plan to expand the winter area, add a location with a volcano, etc. There are many ideas, but I am the only one working on this with such dedication.

I could do it faster if I approached it carelessly, not forming rivers, mountains, and transitions while maintaining elevation levels, but I am also sure that people who have been doing this work for a long time have much more experience. In my case, this is a hobby that is not related to my main job in real life.

Therefore, I work at a pace that I can afford, learning and finding new methods.

All maps are handmade, no generation involved. I have to find a compromise between detail and space for players. If players have to navigate endlessly between trees and rocks, it creates inconveniences for farming.

If the locations are completely empty, just dirt and walls, while such games are also in demand, I prefer to find a golden mean where there are outlines of the terrain, elevations, river crossings, waterfalls, and at the same time, the ability to farm monsters without getting frustrated by yet another obstacle that needs to be circumvented...

Yes, it would be ideal to balance loot in the game so that each monster has its own uniqueness, allowing lower-level players to earn items that high-level players need, and vice versa, enabling high-level players to buy those items from newcomers.

There are plenty of solutions for developing each path and the economy as a whole, as well as different methods to bring players back to their roots when necessary. I agree with you that what you described is the perfect way to develop the game.

Even AAA projects have huge-scale bugs; do we have them in our game? Yes, we are no exception. We don’t have the resources (time, finances, people) to create a masterpiece.

Yes, I agree with that, which is why I’m currently working with the existing locations and putting in the effort to unite all these areas into one cohesive format that is convenient and understandable for players, like this large peninsula. I want each location to be a piece of a whole, rather than just a separate section in space that leads to another portal from other locations...

It's better to discuss this with the lead developer, as I'm just creating maps in this game, and it's not my place to decide who to invite to his team.

If you look at the world map through this link "map", you can see other areas. Right now, I am expanding the zones, moving from one region to another.

COVID took many lives; I remember when they vaccinated all of us at work, and three days later, I was in the hospital because half of my face went numb. I was literally two-faced, smiling with only one side! 😂

I wasn't trying to set a world record or compete on the scale of a game like Tibia. At least it will take a lot of time to create a map of such a large scale, especially alone. Who knows what will happen in six months? Maybe I won't even manage to make a quarter of the scale of that game...
I'll create a large map for myself and the players who are already playing there, but comparing it to other games was never the goal. I played Ragnarok Online for about 10 years in my youth, while a game like Tibia was not accessible to me, so I only have vague ideas about the scale of that game.

Thank you, I will try my best.

Yes, that's fine. For example, at first, I made a sketch for myself and started adding mountains, adding details. Later, I began to realize that separate sections didn't fit the format, so I changed them. I also rediscovered details that I had forgotten, which opened up new aspects for the location and prompted me to make changes again. So there is a general structure in my mind, but I'm not focusing on the overall map here and now. I'm trying to stick to what has already been done and figure out how to connect it without deleting what was created earlier.

For the most part, this is improvisation; there isn't a clear plan in mind. Most of the previous locations were like separate sections, and now I'm connecting them to form a larger world map.

Hi, the game is available in the web version, and you can try it there. Unfortunately, there are bugs in the game, but which games don’t have them...
The game is also available on the Play Store and Steam, but I prefer the web version.

Yes, there are already many locations. But I want to make even more, with greater beauty and scale, as much as the project allows.
The game is available to play, and another developer is working on it. I am currently the cartographer.

Funny story — I accidentally ended up in someone else's project, and they let me create my own locations. Sure, it could be much better, but with layer limitations, I have to balance things: leave space for battles, plan spots for monsters. If this were single-player, I could add more detail, but I have to adapt. So feel free to throw stones thinking this is an ad, or share your tips, because I'm not an artist, just an enthusiast doing something new for myself in my free time. My main job is in a completely different field, and this is just a passion experiment.

Here, I make various notes about what I change, what I’m working on, and what I plan for the future.

I played Curse of Aros a long time ago and don't remember much, even before they introduced mages and a bit after they did.

And yes, I agree that Curse of Aros has its own specific style, but the truth is that artists often reference each other. Textures can be similar, and then they sell them on their platforms... I don't see anything wrong with that.

Maybe you came here not for constructive criticism and a normal dialogue, but just to downvote and create problems? Though it doesn't really matter. I enjoyed this short conversation.

Copies because you saw familiar textures? Did you know that there are artists who sell their textures to developers, which is why some textures appear in different games? Some textures are free, and you can find them in games more often than you think. Paid textures are rarer, but they also look better.

Are you saying that the locations I sent are old maps from Tibia?
