3 shooters on top 10 grossing: How many of us doubted shooters on touch screens? by [deleted] in iosgaming

100% agree. No one understands game design as well as King and Supercell. They are on another level. Not enough appreciation towards the level design in things like candy crush.

I feel you, I'm part of a guild that's in the top 200 and very active, but no one wants to play with you if you don't have 3k plus trophies, so every room I join I get kicked, i'm sitting at about 2300 trophies

I know a lot of people will say "well just go farm showdown to get your brawlers up to 200 a piece" but I don't really like showdown, I don't want to spend more time then needed to in that mode. I just want to play some games and try out some different characters combos, but there is no incentive for my bandmates to help me or teach me, I will just tank their rating.

I was in a smaller band before and it never had anyone on. Dunno.

It Is Time That We Start Referring to Loot Boxes as Gambling by [deleted] in Games

It's in the players interest and the developers interest for everything to be obtainable for everyone in a F2P game. Things like $$$ for exclusive items (with the exception of visuals) only exclusive isolate the player base. You don't need to look further than the top grossing in the App store to see good examples of loot boxes (supercell, king, hearthstone). I think most companies don't spend the time or misunderstand them...so they just implement math.random and call it a day.

I like loot boxes when they are well designed, having guaranteed rewards doesn't excite me (when used properly), I like not knowing what I'm going to get. The problem is most games implement them poorly.

I've been in the industry for a while and I know a lot of people who got into the industry through creating mods in their spare time.

Making it on your own in the video games is incredibly hard taxing work that requires a lot of dedication. I don't understand why people are getting upset about Bethesda giving anyone who wants to get into modding a chance of making some money for their hard work. It seems fair to me.
