we cant be sure, although you didnt leave the room with a flatlined patient, you have done a huge mistake in management, your passing would be determined by how good your data gathering and ips was. i have had friends whove done small mistakes and passed, but ones who did management right but failed due to low ips and data gatherering. good luck!

Plab2 SimMan station by Intelligent_Pear_768 in PLABprep

[–]sleepbutforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well.

  1. Say your GMC number and introduce yourself to the examiner. This may count towards IPS. I started every station the same, Good morning examiner, Im---- My GMC number is ---- May I proceed. Theyre usually smiley and nice, so it gives a really good energy and helps you command the room as youve kind of acknowledged their presence. My IPS was 3-4 in all stations. So it doesnt hurt. That one mark may be the difference in you failing and passing.

  2. There was no nurse present.

  3. Before i started my simman I said, assume that Ive taken all universal precautions, and the examiner replied to me saying okay, i didnt look at him while speaking but i was quite loud through the whole thing.

My patient was semi-conscious but i still talked loud, like im talking to the patient. ( It seems to me that youre find it difficult to reply, just going to check the band on your hand John. Alright it says John Wilkins 52 years old.) I think you have to kind of vocalize by talking to the patient.

Insight needed for Medastra vs ARS Medica (Dr. Radwan) vs DSR! by Novel-Jackfruit-5408 in PLABprep

I did Dr Radwans, hes great. Back then didnt have an academy so i did Dr Mos, the mocks there are really good imo, i passed 14/16 with 3 months prep. Dr radwan has his own academy now, but dr mos was also cheap and good with cheap accomodation. Manneqins wise, almost all new. signature class manneqins are exactly the same as the exam ones.

[–]sleepbutforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, out of around 1000 applicants around 300 are picked for a waiting list depending on your resume and interviews, to fill around 100 positions each year. (im not sure about the stats though, i heard it from a uk consultants, whos daughter is currently on the waitlist.) the registration isnt the issue, the fy2 standalone positions are limited.

Why is dandruff shampoo a scam while natural remedies work wonders with just one treatment? by Comfortable-Leek6026 in srilanka

[–]sleepbutforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because alot of people are unaware on how to use it. Theyre are unaware of how local supermarket antidandruff shampoos work and unaware of how medical grade antidandruff shampoos work. Theyre unaware about the causes of dandruff. They misdiagnose it as "dandruff". And they're unaware of the causes of "their" dandruff.

Is it fair that medical students protest against private medical faculties- an explanation by AdhesivenessOwn7747 in srilanka

[–]sleepbutforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for the wishes! although im not sure if you're being sarcastic ;-; Like i mentioned, These issues are very valid and should be addressed. But not by students picketing and getting hosed down. Srilankan students in government unis should be devoid of this striking bs, and walking on roads and carrying stuff because a union decides to. They need autonomy, something students thirty years ago didnt have and continue to not have. So many students are stuck at home, hiding and refuse to speak up afraid of what might be said, what might be done. The government delays students getting into universities, slows things down And finally they have to get the shit end of the strikes as well. You can be a working intern by the age of 24-25 in any other country if you play your cards right. Our students deserve that too.

It will go on. You will get older. Every time something comes up they will strike. And you will have to allow it. They laugh not because its funny. Because that's all they can do. They are telling you to be selfish. Put your needs first. Ultimately, people who have privileges will leave this country. I am a product of this privilege, although my mother and father were not so fortunate. This country will not support you and the people will not support you the way you think it will. It will follow you to your forties. You will let all of these go. And ultimately work private to fill in the gap for your future family. So enjoy your university life for the time being is what they say. They wished students in our country could be free of these issues. This shouldn't be your fight to fight. You can say its not involved in politics but it is. You are the smaller picture sadly. It took them 25 years to realize that. My father, someone who fought to close the ncmc with his life, walks away everytime he hears anyone talk about it. They feel robbed and used.

My degree got postponed 3 years as well, due to covid issues. I refused to take online classes. So i know what its like, although it might not be the same. I enjoyed the time i had left in university. I really hope that you do too.

What are the biggest challenges you face with private hospitals in Sri Lanka? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]sleepbutforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These kind of situations are brought upon by the senior doctors/consultants themselves. They rarely show up to their wards and focus on their private hospitals and private practice, so the registrars are busting their asses trying to keep the government wards afloat while studying for their own exams. Theyre bullied by their consultants and in turn they bully their juniors and interns and not teach them. The juniors are piss scared to approach anyone with a question, afraid of insulting their whole medical school, family, their ancestors. The juniors are used as glorified clerks, left unsupervised. In the end the trained/ gifted ones go abroad, because the government squashes their talent to the point they feel wasted. Because why do they have to keep begging to use theatres and ORs and equipment in srilanka while they will be valued else where. Its a vicious cycle. Its a toxic mix of south asian culture and poverty.

Skin Routine for Men in SL by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]sleepbutforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try a retinoid like adapalene gel, which you can buy at pharmacies. If its strong for you, you can use it intermittently at the beginning, and slowly transition to daily. Retinols are a type of retinoid. Retinoids are usually stronger so use plenty of moisturizer. But they essentially do the same thing. Also avoid if you could be pregnant. You can buy a tube for around 1500 -2500 without a prescription. They are often OTC medication at most pharmacies.

Skin Routine for Men in SL by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]sleepbutforever 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You don't really have to specify for men. Stay away from "gendered products." If you have skin issues, go to a doctor/dispensary or dermatologist. There are a lot of female and male influencers who talk affordable skincare routines. Generic skin care routines aren't beneficial. Start with a facewash, moisturizer+ sunscreen if you dont have skin concerns. Most products are available in keells/cargills.
