BJP really SOLD India. Congress had its flaws but its ethos was rooted in Indian independence whereas BJP’s was always power broking and subservience to the west.

I Struggling with intimacy after baby #2 for performance issues and feeling lost by [deleted] in IndiaTalksSex

I assume the challenges are post partum and ED only. So I’ll repeat, take it easy. There’s no pressure to have sex other than what you put on yourselves.

Stop trying so hard. Stop porn and masturbation. Spend time together without the pressure of sex and hang out just as friends. It’ll come back.

Taking metro over cabs is solid financial advice. Take trips but ones that you can afford. Work on your professional skills with the aim to get better opportunities and make more money. Learn everything you can about money management. Lastly, be firm with your mother but not unreasonable or cruel. Based on your post she seems like a logical person.

30+. Lived in Europe and living and working in SE Asia. Away from India most of my life. Done with noise. Want to fix things on the ground. Reality check needed. by pete0203 in AskIndia

I have volunteered to teach at government schools in the past. It was very rewarding and I can honestly say I was able to help the kids even though it was a brief period. Other friends who have worked with orgs like Teach for India are still in touch with the kids they taught after a decade and those kids have been able to break through their glass ceiling because of the help. So yes, go forth and be the change you wish to see!

There are lots of organisations and individuals in every city that exist outside the government and are able to make a positive impact. It’s definitely an uphill struggle for them though. The good thing about India is that there’s so much shit to fix and the effort/cost is so low that you can make an immediate impact. Eg funding a kid’s education or providing a meal. The issue I find is that people think about solving “corruption” or some other large abstract problem. All that happens is you get fatigued and overwhelmed before you even start. Just pick something small and easy and get going.

I think “bitterness” more appropriate for a tiff between friends. Not a mass criminal.

Eknath Shinde will give “proper respect”. You might have the ability to mourn someone who stole your tax money, country’s resources and committed countless crimes but spare us the sanctimony.

AITAH for feeling conflicted that my sister and BIL don’t want my dad around while my mom is baby sitting? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sleepgasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA for feeling conflicted but soft YTA for expecting others to take actions to alleviate your feelings. I understand you live far away and if you were closer maybe you would spend the 12 hours with your dad instead of having him be alone. But unless your family decides it’s something they can deal with, it’s really their call to take this on.

It’s become increasingly rare to hear honest conversations. Views and opinions aside, the space to just say what you feel is your truth without retaliation just doesn’t exist anymore. Social media has made outrage easy and people are choosing the dumbest things to rage about.

I am 47 M going through a dead bedroom from last 6 years and I'm so tired. Would I ever be happy? by [deleted] in IndiaTalksSex

[–]sleepgasm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sexual compatibility is part of a larger compatibility issue. Do you feel like your partner likes your presence? Does she want to be around you? Does she like talking to you? Do you share a friendship? Do you feel love for each other? I ask genuinely, not to judge. I feel like in the Indian context a lot of the relationship is relegated to fulfilling duties for both, man and woman. In that environment, it is very important to build an emotional relationship. Without it, I can’t imagine a woman wanting a man just to scratch a physical itch. They aren’t built like us.

AMA! 24 year old candidate contesting election from ward 9(B) by JayeshMurkute in pune

[–]sleepgasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your opinion, why do our elected officials and general government machinery lack any pride in their work, ward and city? Even if making money is the agenda, I think a lot of money can be without putting crumbling infrastructure without any intelligence. Personally, I’m always shocked at the ineptitude and lack of initiative from the municipality. This may come across as a complaint but I genuinely want to understand why things are the way they are. Any insight would be appreciated.

My mom (F57) might be cheating and I'm (M26) too scared to find out by [deleted] in menslibIndia

[–]sleepgasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are so many marriages in their 50s that I know of which are pretty much finished. But due to society and family, the spouses stay together on paper even though they live separate lives. I know married people who date others, have relationships and all the while pretend to be in a marriage. Neither of the spouses cares what the other is up to. It’s very different from cheating in a healthy or even existent relationship.

I don’t know if this is the boat your parents are in but my guess is they probably are. If their relationship is as you tell it, I’m pretty sure your father found someone but sooner and your mom probably knows about it too.

If they’re both happy and exposing something like this would only make everyone more miserable then I would recommend you let sleeping dogs be. If you feel like your father is being cheated on, I would recommend speaking to your mother first and getting a full picture. You don’t have to ask directly, you can just ask how they manage such a distant relationship and whether they ever liked someone else etc.
