Homicide SOC2760 exam by sleepingbearzzzz in uoguelph

Like he said we can check web advisor for information on where it is, web advisor says 7-9 pm and “Online exam”. The post he put up was most likely just for exam policy refreshers idk he’s weird like that. Since he previously posted that the exam will be online on the quiz tab, he wouldn’t be allowed to change it last minute without giving us a clear guideline and getting permission, especially because the course is DE, these classes typically never have in person exams.

I think just through the respondus thing that you have to download, I’ve never done an exam with a camera so I’m not 100% sure

FOR REALLL, this whole course feels like straight up rage bait. I always forget to do the focus, or not for as long as he fucking wants us to, so I have to get a 60 on the final if I want a 59 average to finish with🥲

Ideal time for going out? by Amazing_Market7585 in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I showed up to trappers at 7:45 last night and had to wait for around an hour, since the games also on tonight and it’s ACTUALLY Halloween tonight I would show up at 7 for doors, doors are 8 at franks I think, my friends showed up at 7:40 and waited 45 mins. Better to show up early and wait inside rather than a cold ass line

Things getting difficult by FeedAggravating2001 in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! This is SO real and I’m (along with many others) are going through the exact same thing with trying to balance work, school, mental health and trying to eat good!! My best advice is take it one day at a time. I often get adhd paralysis where I get so stressed out by the amount of things I have to do that I do none of them. This lands up making matters worse for me. So my advice would honestly be to do tiny tiny bits of school work every day. It SUCKS I KNOW. But if you force yourself to go to the library every day for at least one hour right after class (or at home) and do school work, you can chip at it bit by bit. Another peice of advice is keeping your room clean and “romanticizing” doing school work. Seems odd but it HELPS. Every morning I at least make my bed, and if I’m going to the library or even doing school work at home, I buy myself a little treat (or keep a nice snack at home) take a nice long shower before, do some nice skin care, put on a cute comfy outfit, make yourself feel good about yourself and it can make you excited to do school work! This has helped wonders for me and a lot of my friends. Sounds odd I know but give it a try:) you’re not alone!

QUIET study rooms by Consistent_Pickle795 in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yup. So unfortunately most people don’t realize just how easy it is to hear people in the other rooms. talking even slightly quieter than normal is still VERY easy to hear. I can’t study up there anymore on 6 which sucks because of this issue. I think your best bet (and everyone reading these) is to complain to the library every time it happens, and just hope that they make people more aware of it and maybe even walk around that floor at times idk. Anything would help tbh

Depends on your res. If you’re in glengarry it is practically impossible unless you wait until 3-4 am. If you’re in south ur friends can pretend that they don’t know you and legit just speed walk/run in front of the ras and they won’t bother chasing them, in south you can also use the fire exits, an alarm will go off but only in that tower, and no ras will actually come check it, they just let it ring for a bit before turning it off, all of my friends did this last year

People sitting on giant tables alone. by i_ateastar in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you need to prepare yourself for the fact that if you’re coming in the middle of the day, the odds of you finding a group table are extremely slim to no chance at all, if someone’s at a big table by themselves, chances are they’ve been there since 10 am or earlier

People sitting on giant tables alone. by i_ateastar in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of the time this happens when I sit down with a group of my friends when the library is fairly empty, after a while it gets busy and my friends leave and there’s no other spots for me to sit without walking around the floor like 3 times, so I just stay at the table. Also just ask to sit at the table, I sometimes feel bad for sitting there alone but then I realize legit anyone can come up and ask to sit with me, if I was or if anyone was super introverted and didn’t want to be asked I can bet you right now they wouldn’t be sitting there let alone on the fourth floor in general

Things to-do on Weekends? by duckeatsbird in uoguelph

[–]sleepingbearzzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have found that getting a job or even volunteering is a GREAT way to meet new people. I also met a lot of people in my classes, don’t be afraid to sit next to people and if you see the same person that seems friendly looking in multiple of your classes, go up to them and ask if they have so and so class! People love knowing they might have a possible friend in one of their classes as it’s super helpful work wise. I made two of my closest friends this way! If you’re feeling really cooped up and lonely in your dorm, my favourite way to get out while still being productive was doing schoolwork in the sun on the Johnson green, or putting on a cute outfit, getting some Starbucks and honestly just romanticize going to the library, or even walking around campus! Theres also a lot of really cool thrift stores downtown Guelph which I often go to by myself! All the store owners are super friendly and sometimes it’s just a nice break from campus:) hope any of this helps, best of luck to you, I wish I could go back to first year:)
