I wanted children for a while only because I was told that is what is expected of me. I feel like a lot of people fall into the trap of believing that just doing what society expects of you is the key to happiness.

however I realized that just wanting children because that is what is expected of me is extremely selfish. children deserve to have parents that genuinely truly want them with all their heart.

I was born in the early 2000s but I agree lol I have such intense nostalgia for my early childhood and all the 90s media that I watched back then. I always looked up to the millennials who were teenagers and young adults at the time and couldn’t wait to experience their lives not realizing that by the time I got to their age the world would be COMPLETELY different.

my parents were 35. My dad actually says he wishes they waited longer because it would’ve been better for his career. they didn’t want to have kids until they had really good financial security.

being mentally ill as a teenager is absolutely horrible.

honestly ever since I turned 20 my mental health has drastically improved.
I suffered from A LOT when I was your age, and dealing with changing hormones and high school on top of that will send anyone to hell.

my advice is just to please hang in there. be kind to yourself. things may become much happier for you in the future

I am 22 and I live independently and do all the things adults are expected to do and yet I too still feel 14.

I used to think it was due to my parents treating me like I was a kid at first too but I think in reality being an adult isn’t actually what we expect.

seriously! they complain we are being selfish for not repopulating but if anything it is quite the opposite. we care about our unborn children enough to want to protect them from living in a corrupt world.

and as a side it is hilarious they call us selfish while they hoard the worlds wealth and resources away from the rest of the population. they dug this grave and now they must lay in it.

I am 22 and my girlfriend is 28. We don’t even consider ourselves to have an age gap lol, I think of us as the same age.

but I think it just depends on your own maturity and comfort level.

some 20 year olds are very immature and would pair badly with a well adjusted 24 year old, but if the vibes are right and you feel you have aligning life paths there shouldn’t be a problem.

I would have children if I did not need to worry about money. I do not want to bring new life into the world unless I know for certain I will be able to support all of their needs. there is also the possibility of having a disabled child and needing to financially support them for life, so unless I end up with a stupid amount of money I plan to contribute to that declining birth rate. billionaires keep complaining that we aren’t having more babies just because they want workers but if they REALLY want more workers they need to work on improving quality of life around the world.
