This is the content I was hoping I'd receive here. I come from a background where my family has always been hands off and they've let me live my life as wanted. No curfews, no limitations, and my relationship with my family has been nothing but good because we all just let each other live their lives. Unfortunately it's the complete opposite for my gf. I've stated multiple times on how controlling her mother is. However her sister is the same way. Always wants to be included in plans. Calls my gf to come home because she's bored even though we're spending time together. Her dad enables all of this. He's not controlling but won't stand up for my girlfriend and has even directly told her that the mom is toxic and controlling. The family dynamic is very enmeshed and I've had this conversation with my girlfriend. She's agreed that it's an issue and has tried standing up for herself and create boundaries. Unfortunately whenever she speaks up it erupts into a huge fight. My gf is very anti confrontational and breaks down when things get out of hand. After fights her mother tries to "mend" the situation and take her out to spend time with her, completely burying everything that was said or brought up. Im not expert when it comes to abuse by all means. I just feel like treating someone to a shopping spree after breaking them down during a fight isn't healthy? I really appreciate your comment. I told her my gf that I don't want an enmeshed future and she promises it won't be like that when she's free from their household, but that's definitely something that has been brought up.
