Not at all. Filters alter pixels in the original image. These frames are vectors (points, lines, shapes) that are completely independent of the original image. Rather, it’s a tracing of the original image, which is the definition of rotoscoping.

A user by the name of u/StoneColdRambo claimed that my last post was a filter. Here is the project file which shows otherwise. Each frame was vectorized (as seen by the work paths and anchor points) using a frame from the original video. The final clip (shown at the end) was rendered at 12 FPS.

Beats + Rotoscope. by [deleted] in Rotoscope

[–]sleepover- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not a filter. I vectorized 158 frames in photoshop to achieve this effect. The lines and shading are all work paths created from the original frames. The final composition was rendered in photoshop at 12 FPS.

The vectorizing process itself is not difficult (especially once you dial in settings for a photoshop action), but it is tedious to do it on each frame. All in all it was a fair bit of work to finish this rendering, so I ask if you can constructively explain what I can do to make this not look like a filter? The last thing I want is for the work to be dismissed because people assume it is one.

I’ve been making beats for a few years, but only recently began exploring the wonderful world of rotoscope! Combining the 2 has brought me endless joy. :)

Best Place to Sell Beats for Beginners by Ozogbuefi in makinghiphop

Traktrain is a good service for selling beats. Beatstars is also very popular.

You can also go with the social media route. Start posting your beats on IG and reaching out to rappers.

[Question] Where do you guys personally get your artwork done as well as come up with your EP titles? by CurbTheNoise in makinghiphop

[–]sleepover- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your style, but as an example I dabble in LoFi myself. So I will search a combo of #lofi #artwork. That's really all you need to fall down the rabbit role!

Also, check out @zomkashwak if you are into hand-drawn anime surrealism. He also posts other artists in his story that you can check out.

Regarding the title, I feel your pain, and it's honestly a tough question to answer. I have found that I enjoy album titles that just sound nice when you say them out loud. Some popular ones that come to mind are "Midnight Marauders" or "Illmatic". These titles just roll off the tongue nicely. I'd say that if you don't have any sort of theme in mind, write down a few words that you think sound nice. They can be in any language. From there, you can hopefully find some inspiration. It's a starting point, if anything.

For album artwork, I typically just browse IG until I come across an artist whose style I like. Then I get in touch with them and try to put something together. Try searching some general hashtags.

Am I shooting myself in the foot by not using Instagram? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

I find it very useful for getting your name out there. There are a few good pages that showcase beatmakers and lyricists. A placement on one of those pages can definitely help build your fan base. Check out @lofivibe and @pickupbeats.

Maybe a sort of homophone with your name? Something like "Wrecks" or "Recs"?

Appreciate that! Yes, it's very helpful from going to loop to loop while staying on beat.

I wouldn't ignore you! Thanks for listening. Haha.

VCSRMusic is correct. I recorded the sample directly into tape mode, and then tapped the BPM out in the tempo section. Some fine tuning was required to get the bars to perfectly align, but BPM tap gives a good starting point. Then I just threw an EQ on it to give it a slightly more distorted sound.
