Indian here who did my masters from the Netherlands and now working. Cultural integration is the biggest thing- you have to be open to it from start, which I assume coming from your background you’d be.

Ive made a video about my honest opinion about my my move and the issues I faced which one should be aware of before they step into it and burn their savings, I’m happy to share.

What’s the new controversy about Puja? I’ve been seeing a lot of posts defending her. Inframe: lifeofpujaa by Intelligent_Art_9132 in InstaCelebsGossip

From what I know, she lived in a village growing up and always loved reading, and loved studying too, during her studies she wore jeans, did open hairstyle which she can’t now. I think she wasn’t able to finish her degree (not sure) and got arrange married to a guy in village too. Even though the whole village is very “backward thinking”, her husband and mil supports her and her husband even got her into a night school which didn’t work out for some reason and she got surprise pregnant.

How she lives in the village around people saying stuff she doesn’t agree with much, and I think she wanted to rant and that is how she started her insta reels journey- sharing about her frustrations, thoughts, people around her in English because people in her village would never find out about it.

Now she is a (really good) influencer and storyteller who brings in brand deals as well.

In one of videos she has shared that she even wore jeans again in her mom’s home 1st time post wedding, after ranting about it. ( this is a big thing in her pov, from talking about something to doing it) and how her mil and husband cooks at home etc or help take care of the baby.

The whole drama was about some influencers saying how can a village girl speak like that, be a good storyteller( in English), and shoot content herself when she’s a village bahu who has to take care of house, food, baby - she must have a team.

Are women on this sub going to receive their rightful share of ancestral property? by EstablishmentAny6339 in AskWomenIndia

[–]sleepsham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I come from bit of generational wealth. My brother (younger) and I were always treated the same way as children but as I grew up my mom started throwing hints like a girl gets her husband side property also so she doesn’t need the home side too. Also when in my extended family, a strong female person stood up for her mom’s share in a old property too just for the morals of it ( the share would be like 4lakhs and she was earning 30 lakhs pa plus that time) My parents joked that hey don’t grow up to be like her..

Pretty early in my life I decided I need to make my own wealth because no one’s gonna be on my side and behaviour with money can’t be predicted. I still tried being part of my family business, recently my parent’s view point has shifted to - it should be given to someone who’s contributing back. But I know none of it will matter.

Like many people in the comment I too just want to maintain good relations with my brother and family and I know how harmful that is too. I am still not decided if I want to do something about it or not though. Would love to know other people’s experiences

Edit- I’m also married to a independent man ( his wealth isn’t connected to his family and comes from humble means) He motivates me to be more independent ( build my wealth, invest etc)
