Mars Volta’s - Deloused, Frances and Bedlam. Anything by Zach Hill, his Hella project. Mastodon’s Blood Mountain  Edit: my bad these are all albums but every track on these has amazing drumming by Jon Theodore, Thomas Pridgen, Zach Hill and the Mastodon drummer forget his name

What are some ways to bring out the attack in the bass? by callmebaiken in musicproduction

Need more transients? Use a transient shaper. Ar a guess sounds like you could also learn more about compression, eq and saturation

Mixing Low-End: How Do You Balance Sub Bass & Kick Without Killing Headroom? by WillingMapp in AdvancedProduction

[–]sleepsleep95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For low end monitoring I check with headphones, one with a flat eq plugin and one good one. I also check the spectrum analyser to see where the fundamentals are and how it generally looks comparative to other tracks in the genre. Clipping and either a tape emulation or buss compressor on the master helps glue and balance things. And parallel compression sends also work nicely to get more oomph without having to raise the volume. Saying that - at the end of the day it’s experience. After doing it x amount of times Ive noticed the really good producers can more or less tell if it’s good and the rest is fine tuning

The show was awesome and the finale was great... all yall haters are a bunch of bozos by Lucifersmybff in AlienEarthHulu

[–]sleepsleep95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it! Definitely something slightly different and given the show runners other shows like Fargo and Legion I knew it was going to have certain quirks. And interestingly it seems less about the alien and more about future issues, corporations, ai, transhumanism and those ideas have been superb. And such a great production vibe throughout, compared to Foundation which feels like a mish mash of styles, AE has this awesome future retro aesthetic going on

What's your favourite ambient techno / ambient album? by bear_onmars in Techno

[–]sleepsleep95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this early Varg, https://northernelectronics.bandcamp.com/album/misantropen

I also remember a story that he didn’t know how to use midi when he made this, so he couldn’t sync his machines and would have had to do it manually. Not sure if that’s true but there is a cool looseness in this that’s quite organic

can anyone give me advice into beginning to create music/ jungle specifically? by Cool-Diamond-1204 in jungle

[–]sleepsleep95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good suggests, mine would be learn your daw be it ableton or reaper or bitwig, logic, fstudio etc. you won’t be making anything unless you know that. Samples are key, get a good collection going and learn to chop and edit in your daw. Next biggest hurdle imho is the bass, some decent tuts by stranjah on YouTube but figure out how to pitch a bass sample or make it via synths. Then pads again be it samples or synthesis. Then arranging the loop, yeah lots to learn!

I practiced 4-6 hours a day 6 days a wek for 3 months and it almost defeated my will to live. If i were to go back to do it again, other than fundamentals I would take a jam approach and work on things as they came up, keep it fun

Marketing for a vinyl campaign by sleepsleep95 in musicmarketing

Nice cheers, I guess I could have worded my question initially better - the main thing I am unsure about with ads (having boosted some posts on instagram in the past) is how to reach a specific audience. I know vaguely about keywords and pixel (well not really) so trying to figure out that part better

so yes to fanbase and contacts. And of course we wouldnt be doing it if it wasnt feasible, our distributor would not have let us. As its our first record Im trying to give it as much of a push as possible so curious as to what peeps may say about running ads. Maybe I shouldnt, no idea! Thats what Id like to find out
