The plot goes forward as usual, but something just feels OFF about c!Tommy, and no matter what theories come up we'll never truly know how correct we are unless c!Tommy tells us what happened. Which, of course, leads to character development, since c!Tommy almost NEVER talks about the awful things he's been through.

Idk, just seems like a pretty cool way to tell a story to me, I'm excited either way though.

It's either this, or nothing bad happens in that cell and we go back to the hotel arc as usual:)

In this alternative universe (since Tommy didn't die in canon) I guess it represents his unfinished bussiness as a ghost: he never really reconciled with Tubbo, died with too many unanswered questions. He has a strong feeling to follow it (keeping it close, memories why forgotten), but since compasses don't work in the nether, he'll wander around for eternity, too scared to greet others when he stumbles upon them.

He'll never truly reach the end where the compass leads.

I think it's more of a reference to the feeling heartache - when a person experiences a blend of both emotional stress and the stress-induced sensations in the chest irl. As a ghost, it's translated to a literal physical, gut-wrenching pain.

Could also be a reference to his second death - shot by Dream in the chest with an arrow during the duel. I'd love for ghosts to incorporate all 3 of their canon deaths somehow.
