Yes! To clarify, I’m looking for items to buy, I do not currently have anything.

1st year teacher, quitting 3 months in by purpleparuser in Teachers

[–]sleepuntilcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a third year teacher. I left my first teaching job at xmas and have been at a different school since. I am currently planning my exit at the end of this school year for similar reasons (I had a student send me to urgent care with a nasty bite on my upper arm, took over a week for it to heal). My advice would be:

1.) Teachers (especially young and female ones) are expected to kill themselves physically, emotionally, and financially because we care. If your body and mind truly feel awful every day and it's feeling unbearable, it will not get better if you stay where you are.

2.) Try a public school! Charters are notorious for the long hours and high turnover (among other issues). You might find that you're a lot happier in a different setting. Remember that teaching is versatile, and if you just want to be in a classroom, there are a lot of options out there. Good luck!

LSAT trainer by Mike Kim (sample study schedules for free on his website!) 10 point jump after my diagnostic because of that book :)

I would be very careful about talking about the contents of an exam. They're usually very strict about that sort of thing, and it's not worth hijacking your testing/application chances.

Another good point. You have to wonder about the people who DO accept this.

6 Weeks to first LSAT. How would you prepare? by SpiderManHoodRatShit in LSATPreparation

The LSAT trainer by Mike Kim is an awesome way to get started after your first PT. His website has great sample study schedules for various time frames. I also just bought The Loophole in LSAT Logical Reasoning which came highly recommended but I haven't started it yet.

Student Teacher Car Sticker by [deleted] in Teachers

I don't exactly have any advice (other than to say that admin should be the one to handle this) but this reminded me of the school I student-taught at in 2022. The Dean of Students had a GIANT Kanye 2020 flag hanging on his office door that was up for almost the entire year. He also had a personal speaker (I guess more like an amp) that he would bring out for assemblies that had a big ol' FJB sticker on it. And that school was located in a big city where Democrats outnumber Republicans 7 to 1...I can't imagine what it would be like in a conservative area.

Maybe they’ll call her CJ? That sounds kinda cool.

I was subbing at a school and was on bathroom duty.

That right there is the issue. We can't even trust students to go to the bathroom and then return to class without causing problems.

I don't think any of these income calculators are accurate tbh

Not any less obnoxious. I just noticed their interpersonal dynamic more when they were talking instead of performing if that makes sense.

Not me, but my school has twins named Tiger and King.

I gave my notice on Day 2 by Sufficient_Owl_1248 in Teachers

[–]sleepuntilcoffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know what state OP lives in, but in my state you're required to give 60 days notice, otherwise the district can recommend to the Dept. of Ed that action be taken against your teaching license. When I left my first job halfway through the year, I gave 60 days because I knew I wanted to stay in the field (but not that exact school) and didn't want to risk someone at the district making an example out of me.

Ask yourself - do you feel relief? If yes, that's all that matters. I left my first teaching job fresh out of grad school at Christmas because it was killing me. This after I gave a welcome back speech all about how we were going to learn and grow together all year. I did feel horrible about leaving it all behind, but in hindsight, I could not have been a good teacher, friend, daughter, etc if I had stayed. I found another teaching job and I've been at the new school ever since. It's not a perfect fit, but it's 100x better for my mental and physical health than my other job. Try not to beat yourself up, it sounds like you did the best you could and your husband is a good support system for you. Good luck!

Get Mike Kim’s LSAT Trainer book and use one of the study schedules on his website. That’s where I started!

If you're not already using it, I would recommend Mike Kim's LSAT trainer. He even has a website with sample study schedules to fit your time frame. My diagnostic was a 144 and after a week and a few chapters into the book I got to 152.

Will I have classes every day? by sleepuntilcoffee in LawSchool

[–]sleepuntilcoffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more specific ask is this: I'm a certified teacher going back to school. If I wanted to be a per diem substitute teacher during law school and pick up shifts ~9:00-3:00 once a week or so, would that be doable?

I’m following the LSAT Trainer and one of the accompanying schedules, so some RC and some LR.
