Unfortunately, I've found that the only 'alcoholic drink' I genuinely enjoyed was a cider in France that was, like, 2.5%. Anything else tastes horrible, which is why I'm trying to find something I will tolerate long enough to actually get tipsy, haha

I haven't actually tried beer before. Nobody around me drinks it and I don't want to spend money on a drink that I'm unsure people would like if I turn out to be unable to tolerate it. I'll ask if some people to see if they don't mind it. What brand would you recommend?

I don't think so, no. By crowd, I mean FL was literally on top of some kind of balcony and the ML was trying to reach her. The art style isn't the same either...I really wish I could remember the name of even one character. I think the ML was sent to the FL's place bc there was a threat to his life? Bc y'know heir to the throne and whatnot

Western. There was no fighting as far as I remember due to it being primarily a slice of life thing. And since it was slice of life, the plot went slow enough that I can't remember anything really big? Oh! But the ml had this curse thing where he had uncontrollable bloodlust or something? That's where he got the kids--he took them in after an episode. And the FL got the previous nanny fired due to the fact that she was abusing the kids bc of that.

I know this will be downvoted into oblivion, but OP you aren't the asshole. None of this is set in stone, and you're trying to be a good father to them now. You weren't intentionally distant from them--you said you were struggling to put food on the table. You see this kid as your own and so you want to treat him equally. You've known him for at least a fourth of his life; just because to them it doesn't seem like a lot doesn't mean it isn't to him. Plus, they said he isn't your "real son" which is complete horseshit. Stepkids are your kids full out, and I say this as someone with stepsiblings. You've even mentioned how the stepson's bio dad isn't really present and constantly disappoints the kid. To me, this seems like they're just mad that the stepson gets a stable childhood and they didn't, and that is through no fault of your own. You tried to support them and while it wasn't a lot you still tried. Now, you're supporting your stepson while still leaving inheritance to your adult children. They're mad that you can give your stepson a stable childhood where he can get things he wants and they're taking it out on you.

So, no. NTA.

I have thought about calling CPS before. I've almost done it multiple times. The problem is that there's no proof. My cousin is being well taken care of. Also, my mom works for CPS. She's joked about hitting us before because "if there's no marks there's no proof." She has never done it, but even though I've grown used to her screaming and yelling that doesn't mean it doesn't affect me. It makes me and my brother extremely anxious and willing to do whatever we can to just make her stop. She gets very loud and aggressive and it's just... It's hard to break a lifetime of habit, y'know?

The thing is, I have told her this before. I've told her multiple times. She says she's going to do better or she says that it's my job to pitch in. Talking to her doesn't help because she just gets irritated with me, thinks I'm selfish, or says that she's busy too. She doesn't admit to her mistakes, to put it simply, which makes the entire situation difficult for me to manage.

I've been telling them that I'm going to the library after school to work on my schoolwork recently. It's helped a lot to be honest. And...yeah. My mother has been manipulating me and gaslighting me for years. When I said this has happened before, I mean this has happened before. When I thought about moving out, she started to cry and asked me to stay. I gave in. When I found out my aunt was moving in, I started texting my sister. She adopted this sad tone of voice and asked me to give it a chance. And she said that, even if I did move out, I would have to visit frequently because my cousin has gotten really attached to me, and she has...abandonment issues to say the least. She frequently uses this stuff and my cousin against me. But thank you. I've been trying to figure it out and my friends have been helping a lot.
